Various postcards made in May, in honor of "put a bird on it" month :^)

Reused boxboard with gesso and/or acrylic; various book or magazine or calendar clippings.

My MIL gave me her Serger and I have accumulated a bunch of flannel. I have sensitive skin so I am going to try just using water with these in case Lyric has sensitive skin as well.

The fiber has been carded into rolags, ready for spinning.

Whilst finishing work on reinstalling the window Ben Sinclair (head of Norgrove Studios) made an interesting discovery; the left hand half of the windowcill was in actual fact a thirteenth century tombstone reused, it's decorated surface inaccessible from the ground floor.

The date was suggested by the design, which shows a simple foliated cross on a long stem with a small stepped plinth. The more elaborate head of the cross (left) is half embedded in the wall, where it has probably been since the early fourteenth century when the east window was remodelled (since replaced in the Victorian restoration, though the wall and windowcill seemed to have been unaffected by this)

Records, egg holders, and lots of other parts saved and reused.

Philadelphia Water and a broad group of partners interested in protecting our rivers, parks and planet gathered on the Schuylkill River on Friday, Oct. 23 to announce a new network of drinking water stations along the Schuylkill River Trail. The water bottle filling stations/fountains will help fight pervasive single-use water bottle litter found along the Schuylkill River by making it easy to use refillable bottles. Philadelphia Water also partnered with Head of the Schuylkill Regatta to give away over 12,000 reusable water bottles.

Speakers and guests included: Mayor Michael Nutter, Councilman Curtis Jones, Jr’s Chief of Staff, Josh Cohen, Deputy Mayor for Environmental and Community Resources Michael DiBerardinis, Philadelphia Water Commissioner Howard Neukrug, Chair of the Schuylkill Navy River Stewards Committee Alan Robinson, Captain of the Water Initiative for the HOSR Deirdre Mullen, Commodore of the Schuylkill Navy Paul Horvat, President/Co-director of Head of the Schuylkill Regatta Ellen Carver.

4th Grade Students from FS Edmonds Elementary School also took the #DrinkTapPHL pledge to “Choose to Reuse” and were given refillable bottles to take home.

Telok Ayer Market (aka Lau Pa Sat or "old market" and Pasar Besi or "iron market") in Singapore's Central area - it's a historic Victorian cast iron structure in an octagonal shape originally built in 1894 on newlly reclaimed land, it is now used as a large food stall centre - the original structure was dismantled in 1984 to make way for a new MRT subway line, all the parts were placed in storage and the building was reconstructed using the original parts and reopened in 1991 - it's a stunning architectural gem with the incongruous atmosphere of a mall food court

In 2009, Yasmin Bowers founded YB Green® in New Orleans, Louisiana to raise awareness that the City has not recycled glass since Hurricane Katrina and there is a community need for it. YB Green® is a brand of handmade jewelry created from glass bottles that she collects and crushes in the 9th Ward of New Orleans. Each piece of jewelry is a one-of-a-kind statement piece that represents both fashion and a community service.

In celebration of Earth Day, on April 22, 2012, Benevolent Media and SCRAP DC presented an afternoon of eco-conscious art and design, featuring a pop-up marketplace of local vendors and interactive workshops led by teaching artists dedicated to inspiring “creative reuse” and environmentally sustainable behavior.

This event was scheduled as part of The Water Street Project, a multidisciplinary “flash” exhibition housed in a temporary art gallery/creative space in Georgetown, along the newly renovated waterfront.
