Young and Restless at Transit Bar, Canberra, 19 September 2008.
Absolutely insane show, with a film crew shooting the gig as well. Thanks for the extra lighting, guys!
More shots to come.
a mother
restless
in the moments before dawn
wanders
through the half open doors
of experiences
and imaginings
thumbs through
the blurred fragments
of fabric
the faded apparitions
of what was,
might have been
or might yet be
randomly
selecting swatches for her quilt,
now uneven
in texture, shape and color,
and sewing,
ceaselessly sewing,
a singular coherence
stitching her soul
to humanity

HALCYON DAYS, a documentary film by Giorgos Ch. Zervas
To some inhabitants, provincial cities, like Argos, are suffocating, sometimes even unbearable. The conservative surroundings and the dominant practical side of life diminish their share of happiness and balance. Cultural associations, such as CULTURAL ARGOLIC PROTASIS, are a sheet anchor for these restless amateurs of all ages.
In their pursuit of existential survival, they create an open collectivity, discover new things, read poetry, sing, analyze theatrical plays and work on plays of writers such as DARIO FO, GOGOL, COCTEAU, LOPE DE VEGA, BRECHT, MIKE KENNY, PAPADIAMANTIS, RITSOS... They find redemption in escaping monotony and loneliness of every day life and they participate in a ritual of metamorphosis in search of the humane.
In this journey they are not guided by show off and pathological narcissism but by the euphoria of encounter, the joy of playing, the search for a meaning. They aspire to achieve spirituality, not in order to be witty, but to breathe and to give breath to their fellow humans.
A reflection on the selfless world of amateur creation in Greek province today in a period rife with fragmented social centers and isolation.
Restless Flycatcher, Myiagra inquieta
This is a much better series of images than I managed on my only previous sighting of this species several months ago. At least this time the light was good, I was reasonably close, and the bird sat still for several minutes while I clicked away. I locate this specimen by the weird buzzing sound it was making.
I was woke up late to find a slight sunrise in the horizon of Batu Burok beach. And I was struggling to find subject to put in the foreground. Just this detached root on the sand ...

Some shoots in Jampea to Sangir street, trying to be a human by seeing other human beings' activities.
These streets are inhabited with Tionghoa people in those old-houses while struggling for the life. It can be said that these areas are the inhabited-center for the ethnic group in Makassar since centuries.
It's very recommended place to see the architecture and the people within.
Thanks to Ary Risdijawan as photo-buddy. Another next time maybe?
