A view between two cars at a rest area. This was right after the sun when down and the cloudy sky had a nice blue to it.
I also took these shots here
Rain starting to come down while we stopped shortly after crossing into Pennsylvania on Interstate 81.
Every time I travel north, I’d stop over at Sungai Perak R&R. May be the impression I have is, the place is half-way-through to Penang and just nice to refresh with a cup of coffee or may be lunch before continue journey.
Curious little tree growing out of a rock...apparently been there since the 1800's.
We stopped here on our way to Burning Man in 2004, and decided to stop again this time.
We walked around the trail that's across from the rest area. It's a perfect place to take a break from the road!
What part of "only" don't you understand? Are you supposed to place only plastic or only glass in the one slot. Photo taken at a rest area on Interstate 5 just north of Sacramento. Calif.
Iowa has redesigned most of the rest stops on I-80. The one at Mile Marker 270 Eastbound incorporates the "Underground Railroad" theme with "secret messages" in quilts references. The main building looks like a train station with "tracks" on the sidewalks. Quilt replicas are placed in and out and about. History of the Underground Railroad is emphasized. A very nice spot to stop and reinvigorate on a long drive!
I remember looking at this view when I was a little girl and we used to travel down to WV to visit my grandparents. Then it was just a truck rest stop with no amenities, now there is a full rest area with a visitors information center, a separate building full of vending machines and CLEAN bathrooms. There is also several picnic tables scattered about and a dog walk. The Youghiogheny Reservoir and teh river flows north through Maryland into Pennsylvania to join the Monongahelia River and become the Ohio River. Which then flows South into the Mississippi River and eventually empties into the gulf of Mexico.
