I am a pro user. I pay the fee because I can and want to. Some cant. I understand you cant run a business without some funds..however this choice has long term ramifications for those who are part of a community that work and share together. If they go to another platform Then I will follow right along and I'm fairly sure others in my thinking and stance will too. I stand right along side the creators who use this as a form to show off skills work and imagination.

Shooting with a snake is really interesting, and this is just one form yesterday. The Freeze Response is the response to a situation in which the person is scared into not moving- or freezing up. I found studying Flight, Fight, or Freeze Response extremely interesting in how it relates to other aspects of a persons personality and emotional mindset, and I immediately thought this photo accurately describes it.
Junior year is almost over and I'm finishing up my AP Photo Portfolio to be graded! It's hard going through photos and figuring out which ones to include… if any of you remember one that pops into your mind that I should please let me know, I want to know what others think is my best!

I made this a while ago, its just now I have finally taken pics of it. Procrastination at its finest.
Who is this operative? Bob
What does he operate on? Epicness and drugs
Why is he wearing baggy pants? Because he refuses to conform.

Cornell's Birds of the World explains in a discussion of response to predators, "In urgent situations, adults use distraction displays running in a crouched posture away from intruder. While running, adults may also depress their tails to ground, spread their rectrices [tail feathers], or flap their wings to feign injury. Sometimes they pause and lie flat on ground while continuing to flap their wings, or draw their wings in and crouch." While this is a highly cropped photo, I'm sure the nest was nearby and this behavior was directed at us. After a couple displays we moved on.
The flehmen response also called the flehmen position, flehmen reaction, flehming, or flehmening, is a behaviour whereby an animal curls back its upper lips exposing its front teeth, inhales with the nostrils usually closed and then often holds this position for several seconds. It may be performed over a site or substance of particular interest to the animal (e.g. urine or faeces) or may be performed with the neck stretched and the head held high in the air. The behaviour facilitates the transfer of pheromones and other scents into the vomeronasal organ located above the roof of the mouth via a duct which exits just behind the front teeth of the animal. Just a little collage to pass the time while SL is down. I really wish I could remember what I have on to credit, but alas....
During Swift Response 2023 exercise I was able to attend some practices at Bardenas Reales shooting range in Spain by USAF A10s. No real fire (not even BRRRRRRRT, because of the ammunition) but great flying demos, some of them for the media. A great day!

"Photography is a response that has to do with the momentary recognition of things. Suddenly you're alive. A minute later there was nothing there. I just watched it evaporate. You look one moment and there's everything, next moment it's gone. Photography is very philosophical." - Joel Meyerowitz - American Photographer
After a rather restless night I got up at 5:45 AM to shoot the sunrise, which right now is quite late, at 7:18 AM or so. At 6:00 AM I was on the road heading north and after 5 minutes of driving got stuck at a railroad crossing.
Since when do we have cargo trains heading to Miami on a Sunday morning? And then of course it has to be one of these never-ending trains... arrgh.
I was stuck there for at least 15 minutes. I still made it to Pompano Beach in time to catch a last glimpse of dawn and the sun rising. Luckily it's only a 30 minutes drive and then another 15-20 minutes walk along the beach. I shot this actually on my way back from the lighthouse - so yes, I made it there before sunrise... just.

Gah!, if only I was visiting Santa Fe in a "normal" time (will we ever get there?). This little motor court is walking distance to my temporary home in Santa Fe, and it's so frustrating to NOT be able to visit here, and sit in the bar, and flirt with the bartender, and have a cool drink

I had some fun experimenting with an old image. It somehow formed into this. It's very open to interpretation. I see it as a representation of how someone copes under pressure.

Asters are gorgeous perennial plants that supposedly blooms in response to shorter days. This year, my asters provided a fantastic show and I loved looking at them every day to examine their star-like flowers.
I am proud of these photos-I think I captured the perfect light and colors. Maybe not in your eyes, yet I am happy when I do not feel I have to use post processing. What my camera (in its own inside processing) and I do, in this case, looks great to me. I couldn't choose just one to post. I hope you enjoy them, too.
Firemen responding to a house fire from an old 4X5 film negative from 1950. The truck is a 1942-1947 model, hard to tell exactly what year it was made.
Seen recently (Friday 13th, 2025) from the shoreline of Ten Mile Point, a rather puzzling encounter. A dozen or more sizeable yachts, mostly ones with black sails, were in a local race struggling to make progress in the almost still air. The biggest one, centre of the photo, dropped the foresail and stopped as a 'Spill Response' boat approached and came alongside it for a few minutes before re-positioning, as shown in the photo, for a few minutes and then headed off. The big yacht then pulled away to join the others. What was that all about?
'Spill Response' (Western Canada Marine Response Organization) is an industry-funded organization with boats stationed in key harbours throughout Canada's west coast, to deal quickly with marine spills and mitigate the impacts on B.C.'s coast.
