Just got back from yet another trip to the Lake District. Not many photos taken due to inclement weather (putting it mildly) but here's one from April last year. I must have found a handy rock as this is in high resolution mode.

Un inverno molto freddo quello del 2012 che mi permise di scattare foto a diversi passeriformi venuti a mangiare fino al livello del mare nelle poche zone libere dalla neve. Scatto effettuato da dentro la mia auto con bean bag e dopo che avevamo preparato la zona con abbondanti manciate di granaglie e semi. Abruzzo

Last week I saw Mr and Mrs Jay on the ground trying to find something to eat. After few minutes without moving, I could take some photo of them. Not really easy because under trees there is not a lot of light. You can click on the photo if you want to see it a full resolution.

My resolution is to begin my revolution of love. If you ever attended attitude owned by vincent borsuk you know we were hinting at new things coming. Today I layed the first stone to that revolution. Blue Jay. Just testing out the new Super Resolution Enhancement feature in Lightroom.
Beware though of the huge file sizes as it creates a new dng file that is close to 350MB in size. And if you edit it in Photoshop, that will return another huge file, a tiff file of around 350MB in size too.
The original files were 6,000 X 4,000 and after the super resolution treatment they were 12,000 X 8,000, so cropping is necessary unless you're making a really big print and want the whole image to be printed.

At the end of a long walk at Box Hill, Surrey I noticed some great light and colours in the trees just up the hill from the car park. There was not enough light to shoot handheld and capture the
scene reliably. Luckily I had a mini-tripod.

A previous resolution made in the summer of 2024 was to complete coverage of CSX's former B&OSW territory in Southern Indiana, one of the last bastions of B&O-style color position light signals and the only one remaining that is wired for Absolute Permissive Block operation. Here, a 14,000 ton L452-24 storms out of the Muscatatuck River valley and splits the intermediates at Williams, just east of Nebraska, Indiana on a humid summer afternoon.
As 2016 looms, I started reflecting on my photographic goals and resolutions going forward. So, for the upcoming year I hope to:
- Shoot from the heart and not the head;
- Shoot less, but better, and;
- Get over my phobia about photographing people.
