Just got back from yet another trip to the Lake District. Not many photos taken due to inclement weather (putting it mildly) but here's one from April last year. I must have found a handy rock as this is in high resolution mode.

Another New Year's Resolution suggestion. "I promise to spend time being inspired by music and letting it move me into a better relationship with a friend."
Music can be a powerful thing. It can transform us. It is the universal language that we can all understand and that is what makes it so very special. You would be surprised how listening to music with someone can grow a bond.
For me, listening to music with loved ones is deep rooted. Putting on records for my grandma and sitting quietly together, holding hands and smiling at each other as we listened intently was some of my fondest memories of time spent with her.
Imagine what it can do for you. You're on a road trip with someone who you don't know how to talk to. You hear a song you both like and suddenly you both are singing the lyrics out loud. This act breaks the awkward silence and gives you both common ground. :) Think about the possibilities music can add to your life. They are infinite. Happy listening!

Full resolution. This tree has the most activity I have ever seen in my life.
The summer mornings are active and when the heat sets in everything seems to go into the shade.
Some of the more natural areas of Cragside's magnificent and extensive gardens. The 1880's bridge was considered quite advanced for its time. The gardens were planted with 7,000,000 trees!

Blue Jay. Just testing out the new Super Resolution Enhancement feature in Lightroom.
Beware though of the huge file sizes as it creates a new dng file that is close to 350MB in size. And if you edit it in Photoshop, that will return another huge file, a tiff file of around 350MB in size too.
The original files were 6,000 X 4,000 and after the super resolution treatment they were 12,000 X 8,000, so cropping is necessary unless you're making a really big print and want the whole image to be printed.

This is a Panorama out of 4 x 80MegaPixel Higheres Pen-F Shots.
I did some Postprocessing to eliminate the Blur in the Water and to delete the movement of the people.

So far, abstract photos have (with the notable exception of my Wax series) been a by-product of my photography, something that happened while I was shooting architecture or landscapes.
However, I have been encouraged by several photography friends (here on FlickR, most notably by Walerija Weiser) to focus more on my abstract photography and not let its lesser popularity on social media keep me from producing and sharing it in public. So, one of my resolutions for 2020 is to follow this advice and not only post more abstract work but also to go out and intentionally shoot it on purpose. To set the mood for this new goal and the work that will hopefully come of it, I'd like to share a couple of abstract architectural shots, which quite nicely fit into my Deliberately Confusing series.

so i made a new years resolution... finally...
i'm conquering my fears this year. starting with yesterday.
my number one fear was needles... i took 4 yesterday in my gums without crying.
i know it sounds funny as hell because i'm almost 20... but needles used to be the scariest things... ever ever ever to me. but now?
i'm a big kid now!!
=) next step : airplanes.... this one might take a while. hahah
ps. seriously, join my fb group. it's awesome.

Happy New Year to you all!
2023 was not a great year for me and I am sad to report that it has been 8 months since I even picked up my camera. It hardly ever left my side before, like an extension of my own eyes, but PTSD swallowed me whole and I had lost all inspiration.
My New Year's Resolution, to myself, is to make friends with my camera once again. I don't know what direction that will take other than I want to get to know her again and put her to use doing what Canon intended.
Your support through such a difficult year has been a real lifeline and I do not say so lightly. Thank you all so very much, from the depths of my heart, and I hope that I can eventually repay you all with new work to share.
My warmest wishes to you for 2024 my Flickr friends. The world has gone completely crazy and looks set to continue on that path but know that I will be there with you. Sharing my photography and, more importantly, enjoying the work and words that you share and letting you know that I am thrilled to be on that journey with you.

I didn't notice the girl with the tripod until after taking the shot, so I went over to apologize for ruining her shot but she said she was happy, she wanted to have people in the shot because she was shooting a timelapse..
This shot of pair of Bee-eaters was captured perched on a branch during our last visit to Masai Mar,Sept 2015,scanning the horizon for insects to feed on or are they trying to ignore each other...............

The newly bought 1967 Summaron 2.8/35 behaves very much like the old one, pretty soft at wide apertures, yet without exaggeration. The lens is pretty usable in this high resolution lens world, just some softness is perceivable.
