looking adoringly at Kurt after being thoroughly brushed. Love that tiny white spot on his chest. Check him out in large!
Happy Birthday, Rachel! Can't wait for spring to arrive so that we can get out to look for lots of birds. Before then, hopefully we will find a Snowy Owl (or two).
Have a happy day.
I posted this back in 2010 and have reposted it just as a hook to write about "The Radical Eye" exhibition at Tate Modern in London that we visited at the weekend. This is a selection of b&w photos from Elton John's massive collection. It was simply stunning. There were a few documentary photos including Dorothea Lange's iconic "Migrant Mother" but most were "art" photos including lots by Man Ray and other well known names. I suppose this is my attempt to do something similar.
The exhibition is well worth a visit if you are in London and worth googling if you are not.
One question I have and would welcome any answers is in what sense does EJ "own" the photos given that the original negatives could have produced hundreds of copies?
A rare repost of a Merlin (Falco columbarius) photographed in 2017 and reworked with ON1 2023, done on 230909. This by far my best work with this species. I've never seen this pose or one quite like it anywhere since. If you have a similar take or know of one, please share it! (See notes in comment three below....)
After this September's recent sighting and distant capture of the Munson Merlin (not this one), I got ahead of myself in my expectations. After checking my records, I am forced to correct my recollections. I get most of my Merlin shots from late September through October into early November. But I want one in my stream NOW, so here it is, a slightly altered repost....
