Mission Aviation Fellowship asked me to design their annual report for 2010. The directive was to create a piece that not only tells what MAF does, but also draws the reader in visually. Rather than dry facts, the goal was to capture the heart of MAF's outreach and worldwide impact.

I couldn't resist any more, and bought a nice used ultra-wide (not fisheye) lens. Ultra-wide doesn't quite work when the subject is at an angle, or has things poking out at you - there's still some distortion. It would also help if there wasn't so much clutter in the background.
Note to myself: Both the K-x and K-r underexpose badly with the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 in low light - the K-x slightly worse, +1EV compensation was needed most of the time.

Heh, I was looking at some older shots I've taken of this 1:100 scale model - they've rearranged the planes - they're launching now instead of recovering.
This was a test of depth of field with the ultra-wide lens. Not bad, not bad. I was aiming at the figures in the middle, aperture f/8.
At my last report I said that I was now estimating that at my current rate, I would finish Darla in 7 years. Well, now I'm hoping to finish it by my birthday this year! I have 10 out of 16 blocks done! The end is (sort of) in sight!
When I first started working on it, I wasn't convinced I liked how the 1 1/2" strips weren't showing off the fabrics as well as I'd imagined. But now I love it beyond measure. I can't wait for it to be finished!
