ABOUT Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le
Celebrated hip-hop recording artist Michel’le will speak up and speak out about the darker side of Compton hip-hop as she narrates the Lifetime Original Movie, Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le, based on her life story, premiering Saturday, October 15 at 8PM ET/PT. The first lady of Ruthless Records, who triumphed over a life riddled with abuse and adversity, is ready to share her story with the world. Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Thinkfactory Media, Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le stars Rhyon Nicole Brown (Lincoln Heights) as Michel’le, newcomer Curtis Hamilton as Dr. Dre and R. Marcos Taylor, who reprises his role as Suge Knight after having starred as the music executive in last year’s feature film, Straight Outta Compton. Jamie Kennedy (Scream, Malibu’s Most Wanted) also stars as music manager Jerry Heller.
Discovered at a young age, the shy, squeaky-voiced Michel’le (Brown) was plucked straight from South Central, Los Angeles and catapulted into the spotlight while riding N.W.A.’s rocket ride of early success. Surrounded by industry visionaries from Eazy-E to Tupac Shakur, Michel’le quickly climbed the charts; but, her musical successes were soon overshadowed by betrayal and corruption. A nearly decade-long romance with the infamous Dr. Dre (Hamilton) pushed her into a life tarnished by alcohol, drugs and violence until her savior came in the unlikely form of Suge Knight (Taylor), co-founder of Death Row Records and Dre’s business partner. Friendship would turn into a courtly romance, but the union Michel’le thought they had did not end happily-ever-after. With children from both men and a career to protect, Michel’le’s voice became silenced by Compton’s biggest power players. Until now.

media reporting live from the old Parliament Square near Saint Giles Cathedral, close to where the original Scottish Parliament met before Union. Tondo - Smokey Mountain - Manila - Philippine
Smokey Mountain is a large landfill in Manila, Philippines. Consisting of over two million tonnes of waste, it has operated for more than 40 years and is known for decomposing at such high temperatures that it will catch fire, a fact from which the location derives its name. Indeed, fires at Smokey Mountain have caused many deaths.
Smokey Mountain has a large squatter community, and it is estimated that 30,000 people live near the site, and make their living from picking through the rubbish at Smokey Mountain. In 1993, a joint venture agreement between the National Housing Authority (NHA) and R-II Builders Inc. (RBI) was made to build a low-cost housing project at Smokey Mountain. On 15 August 2007, this agreement was declared valid by the Philippine Supreme Court.
Projects have been enforced by the Government and non-government organizations to allow urban resettlement sites for the slum dwellers. According to a UN-Habitat report, over 20 million people in the Philippines live in slums, and in the city of Manila alone, 50% of the over 11 million inhabitants live in slum areas.

The Gannett Building is home to the Democrat and Chronicle, which is the most widely circulated daily newspaper in the greater Rochester, NY area and traces its roots back to 1833. It is owned by the Gannett Corporation. This Classical Revival style building was designed by Howell & Thomas in 1928 and was fashioned after the Pittsburg Press Building. It features a bas relief stone sculpture created by noted Italian sculptor Edmond Amateis. The five story addition was designed by Albert Kahn to house the printing presses. Now a little bit of history: the earliest history goes back to 1833, to a paper called "The Balance", it's name was later changed to the "Daily Democrat" around 1840. That paper then merged with another local paper, the "Chronicle" in1870 and was renamed the "Democrat and Chronicle. The paper was closely idenified with the Whigs and then the Republican Party. That changed for a time when Frank Gannett bought the paper as a morning alternative to his own Rochester-Times Union in 1928. He soon soon threw his support to FDR (during his early presidential years) however by 1940, the editorial slant returned to a Republican point of view. After Gannett's death in 1957 the paper moved to a non-partisan stance. This building opened in 1928, on Exhange Boulevard, housing Gannett's corporate headquarters, printing presses and newsroom for the now defunct Rochester Times-Union. Democrat and Chronicle staffers moved into the building in 1959. Editorial operations were combined with the Times-Union in 1922, leading to the shuttering of the evening paper in 1997, the same year that the new color presses were opened at Canal Ponds Office Park in Greece. Though Gannett moved its corporate headquarters from Rochester to Arlington,Virginia in 1985 (home of Gannett's USA Today) decisions about the Rochester operation continued to be made locally. A renovation of the main newsgathering and business offices at Exchange Blvd. was completed in 2006. The Democrat and Chronicle continues to occupy the historic Gannett Building. UPDATE: January 18, 2013 - The Gannett owned Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester reported that the Gannett Newspaper building will be sold and that the Democrat and Chronicle Media Group will seek a new home for its news and business operations in the city. The building is located at 55 Exchange Blvd in Rochester, NY.

Cover design for the War Child Canada Annual Report. We (war child) help war-affected children in conflict zones become children again through their involvement in a variety of programs where they learn to draw, paint, sing, dance, etc.
For the cover, i noticed while looking at my palm, that it forms the shape of Africa in the middle, and since the majority of our programming is in Africa, I thought this was a great fit.

The Television Academy Hosts An Afternoon of Tea, Scones and Chatting with Downton Abbey Cast and Creators at Paramount Studios.
aturday afternoon with the creative team and cast members of Downton Abbey at Paramount Studios for a behind-the-scenes look at this Primetime Emmy-winning PBS drama created by Julian Fellowes and co-produced by Carnival Films and Masterpiece.
Now in its fourth season, the series is set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey and depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era. The most intriguing part of this series is that it incorporates events in history that have an impact on their lives and on the British social hierarchy.
For this special event hosted by the Television Academy at Paramount studios, guests were treated to a lovely tea and scone tea party before entering the theater for the panel and live stream event. You can watch the replay courtesy of the Television Academy below. We were fortunate enough to attend not only as press but as a member of the Academy and thoroughly enjoyed this event.
