I stayed home from school today.

I didn't really fall asleep last night until about 4:00am...

So I slept in, then read more of To Kill a Mocking Bird instead.

Enjoy the photo.

Huge thanks to my brother, Paul Durushia, for letting me use his buffalo skull.

D&G MetroCity 146 is seen speeding down Newcastle Road with a Rail Replacement service from Stafford to Stoke via Stone ~ 28/2/21

Well, the long anticipated "Woking Weekender" finally arrived and delivered a magnificent array of vehicles operating rail replacement services out to Weybridge, Guildford, Aldershot and Basingstoke throughout both days. No less than 34 different operators provided in excess of 70 buses, coaches and minibuses across both days including three 75-plates. And Burrows Coaches had "both" their East Lancs Darts out - EDIT - STOP PRESS! On Saturday it was LK55ADX and on Sunday it was J8UFX - first with the news!!

Now then, Woking is not the photographer's friend at this time of year due to high-rise office blocks surrounding the station area. Saturday started wet, eased off but remained rather gloomy all day, and Sunday was almost a write-off with clear blue skies and low sun. The one sunny spot we found came with a time limit as a ruddy great big lamppost shadow edged its way into shot therefore limiting use of that corner. All in all though, it proved to be a belter!! Maybe have it in the Spring next time please Network Rail?

I'm not saying they are the same, but they do share common attributes. They will do until I can find an identical pair of the old faithful's anyway.

A fairly recent addition for Southdown PSV , Fleet 503, YN 18 SCV, a Scania Enviro MMC.

Kicking off 2026 was a trip to Basingstoke on Sunday 4th January to witness the rail replacement buses running to Andover, Farnborough, Reading, Winchester and Woking. With 11 departures every hour, something interesting was bound to turn up sooner or later. Being sufficiently west of London, Basingstoke is predominantly 'coach country' rather than say, east of Woking where it's almost all buses running the rail replacement services.

Today's delights were a pair VDL Futuras from Star Tours of Wembley, a JKT International Irizar, a pair of former Excelsior Plaxton Elites now sporting Damory branding, the Barnes '100 Years' coach which has now been repainted into full fleet livery, and a pair of Mayflower Scania deckers. It was good to see the Mayflower pair back on the road again after the devastating vandal attack that crippled the fleet back in November 2025.

In total, 36 buses and coaches from 20 different operators passed our cameras in our 3 hour visit with Aldermaston Coach Lines and Barnes providing 5 each.

The noses of AEM7 and ACS64 locomotives are contrasted in this scene at Amtrak's vast Wilmington shop complex. With the exception of a straggler motor or two used by MARC, the AEM7s have been all but replaced by the new Siemens power to the left.

It should go without saying that this was taken on Amtrak property with permission and escort, via the Farewell to the AEM-7 Wilmington shop tour.

A few years ago, when our cat Briggs was on her last leg, this sweet little guy showed up. It seemed he was meant to become our next cat, and we started calling him Replacement Kitty. Briggs was not impressed. His expression was perpetually grumpy due to his hair lip, he was missing a testicle and a rear toe, his voice always cracked, and his tail had been broken at least once. But everything had healed, and all he wanted to do was sit in my lap and purr. He found an open door down the street before Briggs finally kicked the bucket. We still see him occasionally. But they don't call him Replacement Kitty.

same facial part but from another picture....just hope it's going to be a good match.....glad I only do pretend...

thanks for looking.....appreciated.....best bigger.....hope you have a Great Weekend

Swansea-based Cymru Coaches is a regular rail replacement contractor for GWR. Since PSVAR has been a requirement for coaches used on regular services, potentially affecting rail replacement operations, the company has been building up a PSVAR-compliant fleet of single-deck buses to complement its coach fleet.

Five Optare Tempos have beens sourced from Yellow Buses of Bournemouth, with three in service to date. All retain their R- TYB (Transdev Yellow Buses) registration marks.

Representing these, R16 TYB is seen outside Swansea Railway Station in February 2020, when operating a journey to Port Talbot on behalf of GWR.

Maybe this makes up for the missing 2017 Ford GT. Maybe. Least the 720S showed up!

Event: Houston Coffee and Cars

East Lancs developed the Kinetic body for MAN chassis in 2006. The single-deck version was based upon its established Esteem bodywork but retained MAN's "Lion's City" front. Sales were not significant, and other than a demonstrator, only 16 were built, and these were all for Stagecoach's Scottish operations.

Despite having its UK headquarters in Swindon, MAN's demonstrator curiously received a Swansea registration mark - CU56 AVP.

After a period on demonstration duties, she was operated for a few years by Scottish operator Whitelaws of Stonehouse. New Adventure Travel purchased her in October 2013.

She was allocated to Pontypridd depot and was usually found operating on the local services and Service X38 (Pontypridd-Bragoed). It was in Bargoed that I caught upo with in June 2015, though she was operating a Rail Replacement service on the Rhymney Valley line.

Emergency replacement of a main power pole when the old pole failed causing a loss of power to nearly 3,000 homes and businesses in Orem for about seven hours. It was a cold day with temps hovering around 7 degrees F. Big thanks to the linemen who worked all day in the bitter cold to get the juice flowing again! Orem, Utah.

I have spent this weekend on rail replacement serving Gloucester, Stonehouse, Stroud, Kemble and Swindon with Southern Coach Lines Van Hool Astron T917 P15 VAR (ex Arriva the Shires YJ58 FHY). The first journey on Sunday 26th July 2020 commenced at Cheltenham Spa and the coach shows its length to good effect here. I shall be on the same duties next weekend.

S Sets, S100 & S113, were rostered to work 10-run, and replace the usual M Set. Here we see S113 & S100 arrive into Regents Park while working run number 10-H from Lidcombe. Friday, 26th April 2019.

First Aberdeen 20021 passes behind the wall on Dyce Rail Replacement work.

Since Abellio have taken over the ScotRail franchise from First, there has been some significant changes to the network. The Dyce rail work will see the single track replaced offering increased frequency and faster times on the Inverness route while the arrival of ex First Great Western HST stock will offer increased capacity on services south of Aberdeen. 43143 is at Aberdeen for driver familiarisation wearing the new Inter City livery for ScotRail while the carriages remain in First livery.

Also in shot is Network Rail test train 37607. Nice to have a collection of older vehicles at Aberdeen all still perfectly capable of doing a useful job despite their age.

During September Stagecoach Yorkshire took the tender to operate the next phase of tram replacement, while works take place along the Blue Super-tram route. They have been using a batch of Ex-Lothian B7TL's on loan from Ensign to take on the operations.

Due to an incident the night before not all of these B7TL's could operate the route during the day I visited. I had the expectation of seeing a hybrid E400 on the BL3 so I was quite surprised to see the familiar face of WA10GHO, which was new to Exeter for the 57.

I first saw it heading towards Birley Moor Road where I got probably my favourite capture from the whole weekend. The autumnal leaves contrasts really well with the blue and white of the bus.

I love that the newer Replacement bodies come in a Baggie that's labeled with the skin tone. This wasn't always the case....I think it was Gloss Con, where the dolls were in unmarked clear baggies. The 3 bodies in the center were unlabeled from 2014.

For Reference, the 1st body (L) is Cream.

The 5th Body (R) is Japan.

I think the 2nd & 3rd bodies are Cream.

I think the 4th is closest to Japan...but it almost looks between Cream-and-Japan. *shrugs*

A pair of BNSF units power a southbound CN train near Leverett, Illinois. I didn't know until I processed the image that a new door had been installed on the nose that lacked a part of the BNSF herald.

Metroline VW1300 (LK12AUF) is seen at Archway on Northern Line Replacement Service UL4.

The rather inclement weather had me pondering whether or not to venture out to Basingstoke today (05/01/2025) but in the end curiosity won again! A good few captures here for you to enjoy.

Since the Roosevelt’s harness is just a tad bit too small for me I decided to try this while I waited for the extra long harness to go on sale. This harness was custom ordered for my car but it didn’t fit. So I had another plan!

Also engaged on Rail Replacement duties for Arriva Trains Wales is this Plaxton Paramount 3200 III-bodied Volvo B10M owned by Mainline of Gilfach Goch.

She was new to Excelsior of Bournemouth in 1990 as G506 EFX and subsequently operated in the Thamesdown fleet. Mainline has had her for 14 years and nowadays she is usually to be found operating school contracts. The current registration mark is her fourth.

In this mid January 2016 shot, she was throwing up the spray in Swansea's Dyfatty Street when heading for Llanelli.
