almost final art for a series on repentance. originally this was to be only a one week deal, but now it's been extended to a 4-week series.
the storm cloud painting in the background is original in photoshop. added a couple of bittbox splat brushes. i'm really not sure about the font. any other suggestions would be great.
Heaven or Hell
How frightening! Yet in this lies the whole drama of our human life.
Clearly, before all else the Blessed Virgin wants us to consider the extremely serious character of our short life, which must lead us to Heaven or hell for all eternity. We know that it must be one or the other; there is no other possible outcome. In the brief years of our mortal life, our final destiny is decided, and decided irrevocably…

St. Giles Church - Cathedral
The CUTTY STOOL commemorates the riot in St.Giles Cathedral when the new 'anglicised' prayer-book, imposed on Scotland by King Charles I, was used there for the first and last time on 23 July 1637. The reading was halted by a stool flung at the minister's head by a woman traditionally known as Jenny Geddes.
(Stool of Repentance : a low stool placed in front of the pulpit in Scotland, on which persons who had incurred an ecclesiastical censure were placed during divine service. When the service was over the 'penitent' had to stand on the stool and receive the minister's rebuke. It is said to have survived until at least 1884.)

Merilyn Smith, The Cutty Stool, 1992, bronze, 50 x 38 x 45 cm.
The idea of a sculpture to commemorate Jenny Geddes had been in gestation for some ten years when Merilyn Smith first proposed it to the Hughson Gallery in 1991. The nationalist ferment in Scotland at this time gave an added resonance to the concept, and the Gallery agreed to administer the project. Typically, Smith distilled her extensive research to arrive at the quintessential feature of the Jenny Geddes story - the Stool. In January 1992 she designed the wooden prototype, which was to be cast in bronze. In consideration of the leading role taken by women in the Edinburgh riot, a subscription list for Scottish women was opened in February. Some forty women responded, the money was raised and the Stool was cast in April. The Gallery negotiated with the Very Rev. Gilleasbuig Macmillan, the Minister of St. Giles, on the presentation of the work to the Cathedral. The work was unveiled there on Sunday 23 August after the mid-day service, and was celebrated by the eminent poet Iain Crichton Smith in the reading of his specially written poem 'The Stool.'
sometimes we feel like this window....all worn out, useless, hopeless and hurt. But if we know Who to open it up to, we can be filled and renewed in His peace that surpases all understanding.

The more difficult of the two paths up Mt. Sinai, the Steps of Repentance were hewn by a monk back in the day
Come fill the Cup, and in the Fire of Spring.
The Winter Garment of Repentance fling.
The Bird of Time has but a little way,
To fly -- and Lo! the Bird is on the Wing!
VIII
And Look -- A Thousand blossoms with the day
Woke -- and a thousand scatter'd into clay:
And the first Summer month that broings the Rose
Shall take Jamshyd and Kaikobad away.
XIII
Look to the rose that blows about us -- "Lo!
Laughing," she says "Into the world I blow!
At once the silken Tassel of my Purse
Tear; and its Treasure on the Garden throw."
XVIII
I sometimes think that never blows so red
The Rose as where some buried Caesar bled;
That every Hyacinth the Garden wears
Dropt in its lap from some once lovely Head.
"The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam," translated by Edward Fitzgerald.
Are you ready to stand before God if you died today?
The Bible declares that one day you will die and then stand face to face with God to be judged. Hebrews 9:27 reads, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Nothing in your entire life could be more important than being ready for that day, because it will determine whether you will spend eternity in heaven or in hell.
This judgment will be based on a person’s righteousness, which means to be absolutely perfect and without sin. The Bible says in Acts 17:31, “He hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained…” The man spoken of in this verse is Jesus Christ. This means that your righteousness must match that of Jesus Christ. Can you make it through your entire life without committing one single sin? Jesus Christ did, and He is the one that you will be compared with at your judgment.
On the cross, Jesus took your sin upon Himself. He died a death that you deserve to die and paid the debt that you owe to God. He paid it in full. But you must place your faith and trust in Him if you want to take advantage of that great gift and be free from sin and the punishment of sin forever. Here is how you can do that today.
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”
Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jesus Christ: fully-God and fully-man, without sin, died on the cross a death that he did not deserve in your place. Three days later he rose from the dead defeating sin, death, and the devil forever.
Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
God requires you to repent of your sin (a change of mind toward God, sin, and self) and put your faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Realize your good deeds will not save you.. that is what religion teaches; the outward appearance. God looks on the heart.
..for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7
You cannot bribe a Holy God with good works or sacraments.
Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father. John 14:6

Jesus paid the price for your sins, will you accept or reject Him?

God is slow to anger, graciously allowing time for repentance and change. While God will not be mocked with false repentance, he does not meet our every failure immediately with its due consequences 9whether we are believers or unbelievers). God acts only when it is right and good to do so. God displays his power through the restraint of his loving patient - Brad Hambrick
Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For gin passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. 2 We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. 3 Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, knot knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.
6 He will render to each one according to his works: 7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8 but for those who are self-seeking1 and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. 9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality. (Romans 2:1-11)
The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, 7 keeping steadfast love for thousands,1 forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.” 8 And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. 9 And he said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.” (Exodus 34:6-9)
Today's quote from The Religion of God (Divine Love) by His Divine Eminence RA Gohar Shahi: God appreciates modesty, repentance and tears also.
In Western Christianity, Ash Wednesday marks the first day, or the start of the season of Lent, which begins 40 days prior to Easter (Sundays are not included in the count).
Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. During some Ash Wednesday services, the minister will lightly rub the sign of the cross with ashes onto the foreheads of worshipers.
Lord Krishna utilized Pratikraman to clear effects of his discharge karmas. Any degree of wrong-doing can be neutralized using the spiritual repentance of Pratikraman.

In your path), and He

For Allah is Oft-Forgiven,

THE DOUBLE PORTION: THE DOUBLE PORTION REFERS TO THE PAST and FUTURE. as noted in the last note, this passage is addressed TO THE CHRISTIANS and THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK, who, WHEN HONESTLY FACING THE QUESTION OF THE NEW REVELATION IN ISLAM, FIND IN IT THE "FULFILMENT OF PREVIOUS REVELATIONS, and THEREFORE BELIEVE IN ALLAH'S MESSENGER MUHAMMAD, and WALK BY THE NEW LIGHT". "THEIR PREVIOUS MERITS WILL BE RECOGNISED, and THEY WILL BE TREATED ON FULLY EQUAL TERMS IN THE NEW UMMAT. THIS IS THEIR FOUBLE SHARE", not necessarily more in quantity than that of their brethren in Islam who passed through no other gate, but having a twofold aspect.
HE WILL FORGIVE You (Your past): AS THIS REFER TO THE CHRISTIANS and THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK, THE FOLLOWING SAYING OF CHRIST IN His LAST DAYS MAY INTERST Them: " 'YET A LITTLE WHILE IS THE LIGHT WITH You. WALK WHILE Ye HAVE THE LIGHT, less darkness come upon you...WHILE Ye HAVE THE LIGHT, THAT Ye MAY BE CHILDREN OF LIGHT. THESE THINGS SPOKE JESUS, and DEPARTED, and DID HIDE Himself FROM them". John(12:35:36) .THE LIGHT OF CHRIST'S GOSPEL soon departed: His Church was enveloped in darkness; "THEN CAME THE LIGHT AGAIN,IN THE FULLER LIGHT OF ISLAM. and They ARE "ASKED TO BELIEVE IN THE LIGHT, and TO WALK IN IT".(Q:57:12).

"ye are nor have nothing without Repentance".
Good Luck!
I've decided to use this image for this month's 'Get Pushed' challenged.
I was challenged by my partner Chris (aka skippys1229) to take a photo along the theme of repentance.
I was travelling in Vietnam and on my trip had found the perfect place to visit.
Phuoc Lam Pagoda is a holy site known for the history of one of its monks, An Them. Upon returning from his time in the army, his remorse for the lives he took drove him to clean the central market without pay for twenty years.
Before retirement, he considered sending a bill, but the penance was enough reward in itself.
Unfortunately, I never got to the pagoda. Scheduling was tight, but I did visit other spiritual sites and kept An Them's story in mind when I shot this.
Regardless of religion, repentance is a very introspective affair. Deep in thought, the changes found within ourselves at places of worship can be truly profound.
I hope this shot shows the sense of calm and clarity found in these places.

Jehovah called the people to repentance but they loved their wealth more than their God. So they would not listen! (Moroni 9:3,4)
"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:38)
Since I got saved, I stopped making photography about death, loneliness, depression and suicide and started making radical documentary work for God about Metro Praise. I began making all my art unto Jesus, and always tithed to my church regardless of how little income I had... and then He blessed me with awesome photography opportunities and I was able to make enough money to sustain me for quite a while.
On top of that, my Canon 40D was not cutting it anymore, I needed a full frame sensor desperately with less noise at higher ISOs.... so I prayed. and prayed. and prayed. And my grandma bought me a 5D Mark II.
God CAN do the impossible.
New King James Version (NKJV)
There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.

Last weekend we made a trip down to the Pudu Prison in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The 115 year old prison is to be demolished to make way for an urban redevelopment project. This is an attempt to document the untold stories behind the walls that have imprisoned the notorious criminals including the infamous Botak Chin.
Seeing the insides of the famous prison, I could feel a vast array of emotions. The atmosphere within these walls breathes trails of regrets, repentance, anger, sadness, loneliness, love etc.
May the lost souls of Pudu Prison rest in peace. Al Fatihah.
