If the valve gear failed on one side of a Garratt, the crew would 'centre and secure' the unit by removing the gear and wedging the valve into mid gear with blocks of wood. The repair normally took about 75 minutes - even with up to 40 guests watching the procedure. The train could then proceed with a two thirds load on the remaining three cylinders. This happened a number of times on our Rail Safaris tours, sometimes running the remainder of the tour, up to 800 kilometres, in that manner. The locomotive bounced around a bit, but we never had to replace it for this reason. Here, the driver is knocking out a pin with his hammer and the fireman's coal hammer.

The very statue of Pres. James Garfield (whose name gets plastered on all sorts of things here) whose head was removed shortly after its installation.
Today (5/17/14) in celebration of national Kids to Parks Day 47 volunteers arrived to help and cleanup Stansbury Park and Pond on this beautiful day! Together we removed 81 bags of trash including some wooden building material, two 55 gallon drums (one we put back into service as one of the parks trash cans) a shopping cart, a metal chair, a wooden pallet, a bicycle, a razor scooter, and a huge refrigerator sized chunk of Styrofoam!
We would like to thank Chick-fil-a of Eastpoint for donating our food and the Eastfield Stanbook Civic Association for donating water for all out hardworking incredible volunteers! We would also like to thank Officer Dennis for brining his kids out from the JOINS Program and Viridian Energy for volunteering with us today as well as all our absolutely incredible volunteers who did another wonderful job cleaning up this beautiful little park! Thank you so much for all your very hard work!

Electrofishing the Ponesk Burn to remove as many of the fish as possible prior to the imminent diversion. It took a team of 4, two days to fish approximately 1100 mtrs of river and we caught about 2000 fish that would otherwise have been killed.

This bus is one of many "hand me down" 2002/03 International's the district got during it's time being contract with Laidlaw Transit and later on First Student. This bus has been removed from service and replaced with a 2021 Thomas C2
This 1955 Chevy 2 door hardtop came to us from the customer as a complete original unrestored body that had just been removed from the chassis. after soda blasting, we installed new body floors and braces, trunk floors and braces inner and outer rockers, both 1/4 panels and rear taillight panels. The body was then smoothed, primed and painted GM Victory red before being reunited with the customer restored frame. An LS engine and 4L80E transmission fit well in the chassis with minor modification. The dashboard was primed and smoothed before being sprayed in a matte tan color along with all other related metal interior trim. A colormatched tilt column was installed also. The car was delivered to the customer at this point for final finishing.
