Now that the hair is gone you can see how flat the back of her head is. It may have been like that from the start, but I think I managed to do that when pressing the head against the bottom of a pot of boiling water while trying to defrizz her hair.

Many thanks to all at the Western Heights Preservation Society, who worked hard in removing tons of debris and so allowing the public the first chance to enter this area for the first time since the early 1980s.
It is hoped that these will be open more in 2017.

It is Sunday, and as ever the weekend is slipping away from me, and on Monday I am on my travels yet again.
It as the second day of the Heritage Weekend, and if I'm honest, we could have done more with the day, but in the end we had enough planned.
Being a Sunday, there is football to watch. And with it being so muggy even before sunrise, we are up and about before six, feeding the cats and making coffee. I then sit down and watch most of the previous day's MOTD. There is an hour when cloud covers the sky from horizon to horizon, but then the sun melts it away, and it soon is plenty warm enough.
There is stuff to do in the garden; mulching the beds and deadheading, but it is soon too warm even to do that.
At half eleven we go out to Western Heights, as the volunteers up there had worked hard through the summer to open a new section of the underground fort; this time the northern access tunnel, and we had tickets.
It was just a short drive into town, then up Military Hill to the entrance. We park near the Knights Templar chapel, then walk back down, check in and begin some waiting. Western Heights are massive, a series of underground tunnels and Napoleonic forts, which have fallen into disuse and the haunt of vandals.
These tunnels were the main entrance from the town, and were the modern version of moats and portcullises. It is in a poor state, with people having stolen floor tiles, and others trying to set the drabridge on fire several times. And yet it is all there, just. Shows how well it was made.
The tour lasted an hour, and was informative, but really for locals shows how much has been hidden since the army pulled out at the beginning of the 80s.
We were lead back out, back into the bright sunshine and the heat of the day.
I had been promising Jools all summer that we would go to the Salutation Garden in Sandwich, and with the weather so good, and still feeling like summer we thought we would go straight there.
We parked just outside the Fisher Gate, walked to the entrance, paid our seven quid each and went it. Amazing that a garden so near the sea could be so full of colour, and doubly so since the site was flooded by the sea a few years back. Now rebuilt and replanted, it was full of Dahlias, of all shapes, sizes and colours. And the air was full of butterflies and other insects.
We walk round and look at the beds, plants and even talked to the head gardener. But, we had eaten no lunch, and so with pangs of hunger taking over, we go home for late lunch and sit out of the sun. We were pooped yet again.
I cook breaded chicken and dirty fried potatoes for dinner, and the day is getting old already. The sun sets and gets a tad cooler.
I can't be arsed to pack, so we sit outside in the gathering gloom, I pick up Molly and she agrees to be cuddled and even purrs, which she does much more these days.
Following refurbishment in the 1990s, a Circle line train was branded inside and out with Yellow Pages branding. As part of this, the Advertisment frames were painted yellow to match the special Yellow Pages seat moquette (now removed) and the special Yellow Pages external branding (also, now removed)
Here, a Yellow Advertisment frame lives on, a small reminder of the money spinner this train used to be.
On May 3, 2011, Blockbuster Canada Co. was placed into receivership by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice after inheriting debt left behind by its former parent company Blockbuster Inc. In late May of 2011, its receiver, Grant Thornton Ltd., which had effective control over the company, closed 146 stores as it attempted to find a buyer willing to buy the company. Despite offers being made, all offers were rejected. On September 9, 2011, Blockbuster Canada Co.'s remaining 253 stores were set to close after selling off their stock. This store, located at 1505 8th Street East in Saskatoon, has had their signs removed as of recently. The closure of Blockbuster Canada Co.'s stores upsets me, especially since the stores were still profitable. This store had a sign three different signs. To see what the store looked like prior to closing, click here. There is a sign on the northeast corner of 8th Street East and Cumberland Avenue South. The removal of the signs brings closure to my life, as I have been accustomed to visiting Blockbuster Canada Co. stores, and I really miss visiting the store. As long as the signs were around, I was under the mental impression that the store was still around, even though it had closed at 5:00 pm local time on September 30, 2011. The photograph above shows one of 72 of these supports fabricated by Piping Technology & Products, Inc. for shipment to Alaska. Note that the distance between the top pipe where other components are attached and the base the support rests on can be changed by selecting the holes for the arms. These removable supports are used during installation of pipelines. Pipe sections may have other permanent supports if the pipe is above ground or the lines may be underground.

After laying out all the keys from the replacement set on the table, I removed the F1-12 keys and the numlock+etc and arrow keys from one keyboard and put them back on the replacement key "sticky-board".
The fiberglass and all of the padding is tough to remove, it must be pried apart with this metal tool after it's been cut.

Plaza is a Spanish word related to "field" which describes an open urban public space, such as a city square. All through Spanish America, the plaza mayor of each center of administration held three closely related institutions: the cathedral, the cabildo or administrative center, which might be incorporated in a wing of a governor's palace, and the audiencia or law court. The plaza might be large enough to serve as a military parade ground. At times of crisis or fiesta, it was the space where a large crowd might gather. Like the Italian piazza, the plaza remains a center of community life that is only equalled by the market-place.
Most colonial cities in Spanish America were planned around a square plaza de armas, where troops could be mustered, as the name implies, surrounded by the governor's palace and the main church.
