"Teeth" is a watercolour study of a mouth, stripped of the lips. This is a clear rejection of the perfect Hollywood smile, projected as an essential part of modern beauty. I wanted to embrace the imperfect "before" version of my own teeth, as seen in the photographs in my orthodontist's office. The nature of the colours I chose is bold and visceral. I wanted the viewer to feel like they could lick both these and their own teeth. I also wanted the lack of lips to feel distressing and uncomfortable.

"Ribs" is a reductive charcoal drawing. I used a real set of ribs and shoulder blade that were on a wall at an anatomical drawing course. The clarity of the shoulder blade emerging from the darkness gives an unusual point of focus to this picture.

"Feet" is a study of my big brother's feet. He is an atypical model as he is both a ballet dancer and a rugby player, and his feet are both very strong yet elegant. I wanted to examine them in the manner of Michaelangelo in his several studies such as "Study for the Lybian Sybil."

Vision I: The Violet Firestorm

It begins with the vice.

First, there is only the restriction. My body recoils—a violent, kinetic rejection of this cage—but the bindings hold fast. I am a pilot. My entire existence is defined by control, by the tactile feedback of the yoke under my thumbs. But my arms are pinned ruthlessly to my ribs. I feel the phantom vibration of the thrusters humming in my nerve endings, desperate to correct the vector, to pull up, but I cannot reach them.

The panic hits my gut like a physical blow, a nausea so profound it feels like I’m turning inside out. I open my mouth to scream, to roar against the dying of the light, but the sound is trapped in my throat, a silent vibration rattling my teeth.

Then, the ice hits. The cryo-fluid floods the chamber, freezing and burning simultaneously. It triggers the oldest part of my brain—the animal cornered by fate. The walls of the pod dissolve, and suddenly, I am watching from the outside. I see the Space Tourist—tiny, fragile, insignificant—drifting helplessly into the maw of the anomaly. It opens its throat and engulfs us.

Violet fire erupts behind my eyes. It is a full assault. I respond not with logic, but with explosive, automatic violence. I thrash against the weave, my lungs burning, incinerated by the desperate, primal push against the rising tide of terror. I am burning down, and no water in the universe can extinguish me.

This photo was rejected from the Dalicious 6: Occult lineup for some reason or another.

This was rejected for similar reasons to the Lark solo pic -- it's just not D&D without the players, no matter how many accessories you have. Plus, the focus wouldn't end up on her face no matter what, and it's hard to tell who's playing.Plus, with that much stuff on the table, the small version would look crowded and the text on the books would be nigh-impossible to read.

This one didn't make the cut for the photo-christmas-card-of-a-baby that my wife wants to send out this year, but I like how it came out anyway.

The rejection letter was sent to Norm Kent less than 2 months after Neil's last show,

Hi Oliver,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately I didn't provide any of the official documents, because I don't have the Certificate of Incorporation/Formation, Business License, or BBB Accreditation for any of the Student Affairs departments on campus.

Please keep in mind that official representatives can easily be verified by calling the phone number listed for the establishment on their official website.

If you'd like further suggestions on how to make Places work, please call me at the number I included in the original email.

Thanks for playing.

I needed that after being rejected last week and feeling like I've

just wanted to die every time I see a skinny woman.

It says (I know, that's hard to read):

The world bursts at the seams with people ready to tell you you're not good enough. On occasion, some may be correct. But do not do their work for them. Seek any job; ask anyone out; persue any goal. Don't take it personally when they say, "no" -- they may not be smart enough to say "yes"

It's a little blurred, but I had to put it up anyway because he decided he wanted to lose interest in me and run away when I was trying to give him kisses. He doesn't like me. =[ I thought it was a mildly funny picture.

I received my first rejection letter...and it wasn't mean!

In April of 1952, C.L. Knowles' employer, S.A. Cooper Esq., sought to have him exempted from further national service. The letter is largely self-explanatory and as subsequent correspondence demonstrates, Knowles was eventually exempted.

Protest at the administrative offices of Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Burlington, MA to demand a moratorium on deportations and ICE’s rejection of the applications for 287(g) agreements from the Sheriff Departments of Essex and Plymouth counties. If signed, organizers believe the agreement would increase the number of immigrant families being destroyed by deportation.

According to organizers between 2005 and 2010, 87% of cases involving undocumented immigrants with U.S. citizen children ended in deportation. Of all children in U.S. public schools, 6.9% are children of undocumented parents and 82% of those children are U.S. citizens. The Congressional mandate that sets a bed quota requiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain 34,000 undocumented immigrants on any given night fuels the destruction of immigrant families. ICE is the only law enforcement agency that is subject to a national quota system for incarceration.

Oh the wall of proof that really do submit my work.

REJECTION!!! - Zach McRoberts

I just want your arms around me.

Hm, I've seen people complain about flickr sharpening, but didn't really notice it on my own pictures... until this one. How frustrating...

Well, I'm getting closer and closer to taking on the 365 self-portrait challenge. It has been my dream ever since I signed up for flickr. Every one of my inspirations has or is a member of the group, and I suspect that is how they gained their popularity. But yet, I'm so worried that - with my ridiculously crazy lifestyle - I'll miss a day (or many days)... I want to be absolutely sure that I have enough ideas and enough time to complete what I set out to do.

My eventual goal, regardless of whether I overcome my apprehension of the challenge or not, is to get at least one of my pictures on Explore. Someday................

Someday.

Rejection de pelote.

Reason for rejection: Poor focus, picture did not tell a "story."

Minifigures featured: Kill Switch (Ready 2 Robot), Mr. Handy (Fallout Mystery Minis)

i love this pic. i've had it since i was 16.

Another rejection letter, story of my life I feel. I mean, I'm not looking as hard as I would if there were actually any jobs out there, but...like I said, there are no jobs out there!

Oh well, no hope of maybe going to Canada for holiday, travel or Summer Camp any time soon. :(

Nihils/Nihilism: the rejection of all religious and moral principles, often in the belief that life is meaningless.

Final Series for my Adv Traditional Film Class. I love working with 35mm film more than digital. Working in the darkroom and making print after print really is my favorite hobby.

This series was titled Enigma Between Acceptance and Rejection. It's all about questioning the world and being accepting it as it is or being shunned from it. Yadda yadda yadda.
