Needles: US 6 Dpns
Mods: I began the decrease only rows when there were six stitches in between decreases, and stopped when there were 12 stitches left. The hat is not pointy at all on the top, which seems to be a common problem.
This was my second trip to Whitney. Me and Nick took a regular route to the top. We summit it twice actually within 24 hours hoping to cross over to Russel but packs were too heavy for mountaineer’s route descent. no bueno

Jim, our regular driver for many years, was expecting to have to drive out of the village to park the coach but there was space by the duckpond for both coaches. So it was off to the coffee shop!
I like to think I'm attuned to tiny hiding places, catching glimpses of where I'd hide if I were little and low to the ground. Cracks in the rocks, crevices between roots, safe places to rush if I was being chased by something with bigger teeth or claws than mine. Most of these little black holes are not home to anything in particular. You always know the ones that are by smell, debris, droppings. The forest is full of vacancies. Out in nature, you trade a total lack of comfort for being able to bed down wherever. Animal needs are very limited, but their life and livelihood is always at risk. Some seem to dream on the regular about becoming a more instinctual creature – but me, I wouldn't surrender being human for anything.
