Common blue.In all this gloom and doom, the results of the 2019 Scottish Nature Photography awards have been announced today. I am pleased to say that I have been awarded third place in the Botanical section and third place in the Portrait section. Also two more of my images were shortlisted in the Behaviour and Environmental section. The winning images are going to be exhibited in five venues in Scotland later in the year. All the winning, and shortlisted photos will be featured in the Scottish Nature Photography Awards book to be published later this year. Congratulations to all the winning photographers.
Will you float or will you sink?
Will you descend and greedily drink?
The waters that flow all around
What treasures below will be found
When you descend and do drink
The waters as you slowly sink
Walking down 15th street in Philadelphia passed this glass-sided building getting the late afternoon sun and casting the most amazing shadows. I knew immediately that it needed to be photographed

Reflection
The reflection of a man and a woman on the window of a tram, symbolising the depth of reflection. Their silhouettes, half-blurred, seem to be immersed in a distant, almost pensive thought. Their faces, marked by an expression of silent concern, reveal an inner state, as if the movement of the tram were witnessing a moment of shared solitude, a moment suspended in time.
"Reflections of Roseates" by Patti Deters. A group of six Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja) waterbirds forage in the shallow waters in a Florida marsh. These are large waterfowl that get their pink coloring from the foods they eat, digging into the muddy bottoms of swamps. An interesting fact is that as they get older, their heads get more white and bald! This particular artwork is for sale on a variety of products at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/reflections-of-roseates-...
