September, 2014.

Prague, Czech Republic.

I'm into plain black backgrounds and square crops right now, it seems. Self-portrait from earlier this year, challenging myself to use cold unsaturated color palettes in editing. Prefer warm. Breaking out of comfort zone. Also, buying a wireless remote with autofocus capabilities was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

This is a candid shot of my sister taken inside a pub in Albany. The jukebox's screen is responsible for the awesome reflection!

I wasn't sure about cropping this not. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Obviously we’re taking a break from “the veiling of the self” collection. We’ll get back to it later though.

Enjoy the summer!

Another shot of the beautiful sunset we had yesterday evening. Reflected in the upstairs landing window. No sign tonight of a sunset as we had heavy rain after a dawn of fog and frost!

This is the Puget Sound Plaza in Seattle, displaying the light reflecting off the newly-constructed Rainier Square Tower across the street.

Another shot from last weeks trip.

Like waking up to works of Monet :-), Beautiful ;-).

Happy Easter Weekend

Inspired by the young lady sitting on the porch. I consider my work New Wave Regionalism. Grant Wood (American Gothic) painted images of the heartland. Regionalism was considered his style. Mine is New Wave because the images are digitally remastered and primarily from Oklahoma. Each element in the image is something I have taken somewhere else.

This globe was lit by two bare strobes pointed at a yellow faux wood wall in back and one large softbox camera right and above subject. The globe was placed on black acrylic for the natural reflection.

This was the primary subject in one of the setups at the Utah Strobist Meetup tonight. There was a lot of fun conversations and some learning to be had there.

Thanks to Kim Guanzon for getting this moving and everyone sharing equipment and knowledge.

Recent rains had left puddles in Colonial Williamsburg when we visited on New Year's Day; walking along Duke of Gloucester Street, I noticed the tower of Bruton Parish Church (over 300 years old -- see next photo) in one of the puddles.

Just taking time to reflect on my photography and how much I am getting out of it and found an image that I made in 2009 at Hareshaw Linn that was never processed!

I find it so important to spend a little time in reflection mode nowadays and pause for a while before the next steps forward in developing my style further and gaining a better understanding of photography! I keep saying this to friends but I reckon it will take around two lifetimes to learn what I want to learn but then again, I now remember how little I knew only three years ago!

It is from many hours of research, college work and through learning many things from you dear people on Flickr that I think I now sort of know what I'm doing......so many thanks to you all and I sincerely hope that you all continue as I do, to "Just Love What You Do"!
