i managed to spend a bit of time exploring the Louvre pyramid closer during my last trip and i was able to try some compositions that presented the wonderful modern geometrical order of the pyramid in contrast to the classical buildings around it...
i have to say that i prefer this particular place in the evening and at night as the illumination really makes it come alive... on this occasion the contrast between the dark nightly sky and the illuminated elements was great to work with...

This is a shell that I picked up in San Felipe on my last trip to Baja.
Strobist info: I placed this shell on a mirror to photograph because I like the extra dimension that it shows. Side lighting with one YN560 in a 24 inch soft box, camera left at 9 o'clock. I used a small hand mirror to reflect some light onto the right side of the shell for fill. I didn't need to use a black background because the exposure that I used of f22, 1/200 and iso 100 didn't allow for any ambient light to be recorded. All of the light came from the strobe.

This Snow Monkey sits in the hot pool looking towards the early evening sunshine will casting a beautiful reflection of himself in the water.
Today was my first time deep into the swamp since the nor'easter. Not much real damage, yet much appears different.
The droplets are sitting on a plexiglass sheet, they are not moving. The camera is set up on a tripod, facing down. Under the sheet you can put something you want to reflect in the droplet. I place some extra external light on two side of the droplets

Evening view of the central towers of Angkor Wat, seen in the lilly pool. The flowers open only the mornings and close into buds by afternoon.
Finally got out with the camera again...had trouble getting the cobwebs off :)
With the monsoon hanging around it provided a good opportunity to catch some of them in flow and this pool showed some nice reflections.
