~self reflection~

not in a visual visible outside way

but more in an invisible hidden inside way

"However mean you life is, meet and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts… Superfluous wealth can buy superfluities only. Money is not required to buy one necessary of the soul."

Henry David Thoreau

Cooke Rd north of Columbus, OH tends to be known as one of the most boring locations in Ohio to photograph trains. Straight track, common power, and little distinctive features make it the least desirable location for photography. Thanks to 9 days of constant rain, puddles formed at the bottom of the ditch near Cooke Rd, potentially making things just that little more interesting.

Here, NS 8449 leads 18M? with one hell of a lashup. The consist was a C40-8W, SD40-2, SD70M, SD70ACu, C40-9W and a C40-8.5W. I would've liked the sun to come out for this one, but this will do.

Summit Lake, on Mt Evans, in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The elevation here is 13,000 feet.

Decided not to go out tonight as I need the rest and some time to reflect on life a little.

Sometimes we can end up doing everything for others and nothing for ourselves this I have found happening a lot over the past few months so tonight is family time :-)

I am finding the line between real reality and virtual reality is getting ever increasingly blurred to the point that I turn to answer when the Name Helen is mentioned and I almost end up walking into the ladies loo instead of the guys.

one day it will sort its self out with luck.

Thanks for looking. I appreciate feedback!

Sai made a (ghetto) macro lens that works quite well. Crazy that I can see my own reflection so clearly in his eye! This photo is not cropped.

Snowdon (1085m), highest peak of Wales in the Snowdonia National park, reflects in the mirror waters of Llynnau Mymbyr lake. I knew Wales was beautiful but its beauty exceeded all my expectations and day like this is not a frequent occurrence there in the middle of the winter.

I made it down to the overnight parking place of the Union Pacific's X4014 Big Boy in Fairbury, Nebraska. The crowds had yet to arrive to see the locomotive off. While wandering around the Big Boy and taking photos. I noticed the reflection of the historic Rock Island Depot in the Big Boys Tinder. Image made with a Pentax K1.

First day in Venice. I was jet-lagged, hot (it was very humid) and in a bit of culture shock. Once in our teeny tiny Italian room, I took a minute to myself to grasp where I actually was:

fucking VENICE, ITALY. There is nothing like it. Complete magic. | © all rights reserved

I've become fascinated with water droplets lately and was really pleased that I managed to capture a little rose inside the droplet.

My obsession with macro continues....

thanks for all the wonderful comments, and encouragements :)

There are two pools on both the north and south sides of the Gateway Arch National Park. When standing just at the right spot, you can take a shot of the fully reflected Arch. You will have to get lucky with the ducks and geese though, as they often create ripples in the water.

Paper Wasp reflecting on our terracotta birdbath.

Look at how much their feet dip in the water. The water tension must be really strong.

We have had extra-ordinary numbers of these paper wasps in our garden this year. They build their paper houses in the fence railings and help keep the bug balance in the garden by catching caterpillars and other insects for food.

A bit processed to bring out the colors and contrast...there was a lovely reflecting pool at our hotel in Costa Rica and the reflection of a tree begged for a photo. Hope you have a great Tuesday.
