Snigger. Yeah I'm being naughty. Of course the smoke is coming from the motive power. And the reefers, refrigerated cars, have something as harmless as orange juice or broccoli or some such.
But it tickled me...
So anyway, I used to take lots of these 'in yer face' type shots. But I don't so much anymore. Maybe I grew up? Maybe I learned how to use the camera? Whatever.
But one every now and again doesn't hurt. And I rather like the 'rough as hell' look I've added. It won't appeal to everyone I know. But there we are...
We're way out in the Idaho wilds here, a settlement called Bancroft on the old Highway 30 south-east of Pocatello. The road loops away from the new US30 at Lava Hot Springs and parallels the tracks the entire length until it meets back with the new 30 by Soda Springs. It's a cool drive, better still if you can bag a couple of trains in the process. And it's very quiet, so the chase is easy...
I later caught up with this pair 200 miles away at Green River WY, they arrived in the yard just as the sun went down...
