Playing with this picture. I remember the day I took this photo like it was yesterday. But it was a year and a month ago! Time flies when you're flickering!
i wanted to include this one from 2008 in the new train yard project but the original never had that compelling, eggleston-ian red that it should have. now that i know what i'm doing in RAW processing, "it's a lot closer to my original vision" as george lucas would say.
man it makes me sad to tag this with the Tokina 17mm lens. it's probably the last time i'll get to do that; the 17mm was stolen along with the 7D and the 300. the chances of finding another used copy are slim, but maybe insurance will come through.
My record breaker from a few months ago, heavily revised.

I recently inadvertently deleted many photos from my photostream. I've been trying to retrieve as many of them as I could - it hasn't been easy... Like this one, I've marked the 'deleted' photos as 'redux'. I lost all of the information that goes with a photo, including the faves and comments I received. I'm merely putting them back in my photostream so they are not lost forever. I've turned off the comments for each of them.

Back in 2009 I think, I discovered a programme called LDD (Lego Digital Designer). It allowed me an almost limitless supply of Lego bricks to create virtual structures. I was instantly taken back to my 5th birthday when I got my first Lego fire engine.
Having evolved a pronounced interest in all things roboty (is that a word?) my preference was for mechanised creations. One of my earliest I called "spider bot" and it was a multi-limbed agent working for a group known as the Space Skulls (which is a theme created by Lego themselves).
My construction techniques and knowledge of the programme were limited back then, so this is not representative of my best work, but I'm still fairly impressed with the results.
Some time later (around 2011 I believe) I went back and reinvented the design using new techniques I had developed since. The results I referred to as the Spiderbot redux and this is the result.

This is my first attempt at redoing a LEGO set. This along with the Tri-Star Voyager are a couple of my all time favourite sets. I suppose because they were among the very first sets that I ever had.
I have tried to incorporate as many features and parts of the original as possible. I did change the front end lights from red to yellow as I prefer the yellow and thought the red looked a bit weird at this size.

Thanks to nochasingiguanas for the comment on the original pic. I agree and have made a minor alteration :)
It's surprising the difference in colour / light between the frames. The whole sequnce took about 20 minutes to shoot. It was indoors and not moved at all.

Galerie Steph presents Acoustic Anarchy REDUX, a solo exhibition by the dynamic husband-and-wife duo behind SBTG, Mark Ong and Sue-Anne Lim.
The series Acoustic Anarchy is a semi-biographical account of Mark’s life growing up in Singapore. In capturing the struggle against conformity and the spirit of rebellion, it also celebrates the subcultures that have informed both his life and artistic practice. Mark says, “Our recent works explore an alternative universe: life as an American teenager in the 80s - the golden era of skateboarding, and the birth of a new movement. In this fictitious world of Acoustic Anarchy, skateboarding is an occupation, punk rock is a religion and Henry Rollins is god.”
This exhibition showcase SBTG's wholly distinctive and inimitable style that marries grit with finesse, craftsmanship with artistry, and expressiveness with urbanity.
This Showcase is on from 5 July 2013 till 31 August 2013 At Artspace@Helutrans 39 Keppel Road #01-05, Singapore 089065

Redux of "The professor," with some slightly improved post. I don't think there's a whole lot more I can do with regards to the motion blur up top, but I am a little more satisfied now. Revisiting old photos sometimes helps me both improve my post and show me what I still need to keep in mind for the future
Certainly, I know more now than I did then. I should have shot this in shutter priority and risked underexposing and trusted the D3100 more (since much of the shadow detail here is well within what can be recovered in post), or bumped the ISO up to 1600 and taken measures to reduce noise later (especially because this shot was ultimately for newspaper print, which isn't terribly demanding on that front). Live and learn!
redux indeed...i've told you about the sigurdsen triplets...kjersti, annuka and egede...they're in my book and in my heart...
well, i arrived home the other day and there was a message from kristin, explaining she was in toronto for a few days and she knew kjersti, annuka and egede...my ears perked up and my skin was all goose pimply...you know goose pimples, or is it goose bumps...the kind you get when you know something exciting is about to happen...well she told me the triplets gave her my phone number and insisted she call me when she came to toronto...and she wanted to hook up...you know...HOOK UP...oh well...
so i returned the call and accepted the invitation...and gave her my address...
as it turns out...you know all of those things the triplets knew...those little talents that each had...well, kristin knew all of those things AND she loved to tickle fight...and GAWD she loved to tickle fight...i'm going to die with that smile on my face...
well our time together had to end eventually so we bid adieu....of course promising to meet again...real soon...real real real soon...i smile whenever i think about our time together...
so if you seen me smiling for no apparent reason, it's all about kristin...afterall it was always about kristin...
sweet sweet kristin...sweet kristin...
she was sweet...
so sweet...goose pimply sweet...
