from my brick collection. From the Redcliff Premier Brick Plant

The church dates from the 14th century onwards, and is built in redbrick with ashlar dressings and a slate roof.

There is a western tower, nave, chancel, and vestry. The three stage tower was built in 1606 and set in the wall of the second stage are stones inscribed with the names of the church wardens and builders.

The west door consists of a medieval double arch in a brick surround. Just below the second stage of the tower is a date stone inscribed "1606 Anthone swell".

The nave dates from 1842, and the chancel from 1941.

The chancel arch has late 14th century octagonal imposts but is otherwise 20th century. At the west end of the nave is a timber gallery supported on two turned pillars. All fittings are 19th or 20th century.

The octagonal font is about 1400 with panelled stem and cusped ogee panel tracery to the sites.

In the tower is a rectangular stone plaque bearing the inscription of the construction of the porch in 1522.

This redbrick church built in 1904 was one of the first concrete buildings in France; Built in the art nouveau style with Moorish elements. The bricks had to be added later to soothe offended locals. According to our Paris Walks tour guide (Oriel Caine), the church is known to locals as St. John of the Bricks" (En Francais, of course!)

The RedBrick Pizza sign went up this week.

Following months of extensive refurbishment, the landmark redbrick Pierhead building on the National Assembly’s Cardiff Bay estate re-opened its doors on 1 March 2010 to take on its new role as a unique events and visitor attraction.

I could not find any infromation about this mysterious building. It took me a long time to even notice it, since it is located between the funny little Haarla Palace and the dominating Hatanpään valtatie 4. That's why I had to take a picture of it.

We saw cats, and monkeys, oh yes, monkeys on campus. We were told that monkeys also have a knack for entering the dorms!!!

The sun finally came out today! Yay!

I thought I would take photos of more of the houses in the village to give more of a feel for the place. This is one of a pair of estate houses facing the church. This one is home to a rather barky basset hound called JLo and her owners
