Following months of extensive refurbishment, the landmark redbrick Pierhead building on the National Assembly’s Cardiff Bay estate re-opened its doors on 1 March 2010 to take on its new role as a unique events and visitor attraction.

The redbrick building is a new bit of infill. Fairly standard neogeorgian stuff, but nicely done. A shop on the ground floor and what look like a couple of flats above.

I came in here looking for the washitsu (read: traditional Japanese-style rooms, with tatami mats) study rooms I had heard rumor of. Just to see them, to check them out. A friend of mine who doesn't even attend here says he often uses those rooms to practice his Noh dances and chants and such.
I didn't end up finding them... but is anyone surprised that the Business & Law Schools should turn out to have the nicest building? I didn't think so...
