Many moods of the desert!

"The life you have left is a gift. Cherish it. Enjoy it now, to the fullest. Do what matters, now.” ― Leo Babauta

Monument Valley

One of my favorite places on earth.

Added some texture for this portrait! A bird expert said maybe over age 2yrs. Outer texture is my own, softening texture from Anna Lenabem.

Monument valley: a red-sand desert region on the Arizona-Utah border, is known for the towering sandstone butte of Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. It took about 2 hours driving along the 21 km looping Valley Drive, nearly sun down, surprised by the light in the desert, this light just lasted no more than 5~10 minutes, Truly the nature miracles.

Hopefully they don't last long~HFF!

Morning light and a dusting of snow.

Wadi Rum , Jordan

From a recent trip to Sidmouth. We were a bit shocked about the steep increase in car parking fees by the local council - 1 pound per half an hour is just insanely expensive! We still enjoyed a sunny picnic and I strolled along the beach, following the towering red cliffs of the Jurassic Coast.

No bunnies were harmed on this photo shoot, Although they have caught a bunny once or twice.

Namib desert is the oldest desert in the world. The trees at the base of the dune give a indication of the scale

Wild clouds converge!

The red sands and mountains are more intense in this image as it had rained. Do you have a preference in realistic above or more dreamy below?

Happy Friday~

Cirrus clouds signal a change in the weather,

Looks like an ocean should be near! I Wish!

And a final shot from Jacob's Ladder beach in Sidmouth with the view towards the ever changing geology of the Jurassic Coast. Each town features a slightly different type of rock and as we move further East we move through the prehistoric age with the chalk-white cliffs of Dover representing the most recent period.

There are seven towers in the Red Sands group, at the mouth of the Thames Estuary. These towers were previously connected by metal grate walk-ways. In 1959 consideration was given to refloating the Red Sands Fort and bringing the towers ashore, but the costs were prohibitive. In the early 21st century there were threats that the fort could be demolished so a group called Project Redsands was formed to try and preserve the fort. It is the only fort that could be accessed safely from a platform in between the legs of the tower to the right for a long time, but not anymore. Only Urbexers visit the towers sometimes, of course not just legally.

Four towers carried QF 3.75 inch guns arranged in a semicircle ahead of the control centre and accommodation, a tower to the rear of the control centre mounted Bofors 40 mm guns, while the seventh tower, set to one side of the gun towers and further out, was the searchlight tower.

From our Christmas trip to the 'home beach' in Teignmouth.

Sliders Sunday

We wanted somewhere different to spend our vacation, I think we found it!

Love the colors of the desert!

Yesterday, the dull grey weather took a break and we enjoyed a glorious sunny day in Sidmouth. The Jacob's Ladder beach is our first go-to spot when we visit and I walked back along the incredible red cliffs, some of them incredibly high. The sound of falling rocks hitting the beach is a terrifying experience, I made sure to stay clear of the cliffs. Piles of fresh rock on the beach are a constant reminder of ongoing erosion of the cliff edge.

An old chain buried in the sands of Maidencombe beach yesterday. This was a new little cove for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our picnic at this secluded place. To our delight a very inquisitive seal showed up a few times in the water just in front of us!

Land here is sloping in case you wondered. Turn in the weather.

Wilds are best!

Thanks, Explore!

Of course not a difficult prediction. Cirrus clouds forecasting. Today's Hike

Cirrus clouds are usually white and predict fair to pleasant weather. By watching the movement of cirrus clouds you can tell from which direction weather is approaching. When you see cirrus clouds, it usually indicates that a change in the weather will occur within 24 hours. ... The clouds usually cover the entire sky.

After a few weeks rambling around in Dartmoor National Park we wanted to have a change of scenery and decided to spend some quality time at one of numerous small coves along the South Devon coast. We've been to Maidencombe once before and were happy to find the beach just as secluded and lovely as we had before.
