Backyard visitor.
We have several foxes and other critters that come to eat the mulberries that fall from the tree.

Series of five. Interesting visitor to our archery session. It was not fazed by the arrows flying around. Luckily it had the sense not to come in range!
Martins Creek, PA - This fox can never compete in a beauty contest with those Jersey Shore foxes I have seen posted. He was hunting a swamp and was definitely not well groomed for his photo op. Besides being wet he had one swollen eye and a relatively bald tail.
I hope I dont offend anyone with these photos. I normally would not post something like this. I was driving to work last night when I passed this poor little guy on the side of the road. As I passed I instantly knew the fox was still alive. So I turned around and blocked part of the road with my truck so approaching traffic would not hit me or this little guy. This part of the road is only about a mile from my house and is in the rural part of the Cincinnati area, so no lights what so ever out here. This guy was doomed for sure if it stayed in this spot. I felt I had to try and help him, or put him out of his misery. I watched him for a few minutes, trying to determine how bad he was hurt. I work in law enforcement and I was on my way to work, so I had my firearm with me and was willing to put it out of its misery if I thought it was suffering too much. He tried to stand up twice but could not get his balance. I decided to get him out of the road while I observed him and gently pushed the fox off into the grass with my tripod, trying to be as careful as possible as not to hurt him anymore. A few more minutes went by and I as watched this guy, feeling totally helpless, I noticed it coming around a bit. The initial shock was wearing off I guess because it got up on all fours for a few seconds, layed back down and started licking itself. He then sat up and just looked at me for a good 30 seconds, stood up, shook itself off and ran into the field that is off to the top of this picture and was gone. As I watched it run, it did not show any signs of an injury. I have no idea if it later died but at least it didnt get hit again. Several cars went by while I was out with the fox and I am certain one of them would have ran over him due to where it was in the road and how dark it is out here.
We have a fox that comes to our backyard every night, I am hoping it was not him.
I was in the neighborhood of one of the fox dens I'm watching and stopped by. As it was afternoon, I didn't expect much
Taken in my backyard. Don't worry I took this from inside our window. It looks like its growling but its chewing bird seed.
I caught this 6 week old fox with his tongue still out after he licked his tail during a grooming session.

Bombay Hook NWR, Smyrna, DE -- KiloKilo and I spent a few hours on Friday but the conditions were less than ideal: The combination of astronomical high tides in Delaware Bay plus the continued high river flow from last weeks storms left little shallow water/mud flats. In addition, about 1/2 of the refuge was closed for deer hunting season.
