After a very cold 4 and a half hour wait, my target species for today finally arrived.
Its always a pleasure to see the Fox, and an extra bonus to be able to photograph it.
Was it worth the wait in the cold? Of course it was! :-)

Thought I'd better put in a foxy pic.
I seem to capture quite a lot of animals with their tongues poked out at some stage. I dunno if it is because I look tasty or simply their expression of contempt for my photographic ability.
This one however I think is a lick of anticipation for impending comestibles. Or as Hank thinks a real foxy lady has just appeared!
Mixed series of five. I am always pleased to see Mr. Fox around, brightens any day! Not sure about the ID of the Chaser? Never seen an orange one.
Looks like this guy needs a bit more beauty sleep!
That does it! I can't go back to the fox den until I go to the store and by another back up drive! Something about shooting 1000 photos a day, fills up your memory fast! Dang this retirement thing is really tough!
Series of ten. Lovely walk this morning in glorious sunshine at a local park. Thought I was lucky to see one fox and then its mate appeared and gave me the stare! Could not resist showing all of its run for cover.
A beautifully warm mid February day allowed me to add two new species to my photostream. I got my first ever close look of some White-winged Crossbills in Blackmud Creek Ravine and a Northern Hawk Owl just south of Ft Saskatchewan (Thanks to Bob for the location). Just after seeing the Owl allowed me my closest ever encounter with a wonderful Red Fox.
Ok I know yet another one but please bare with me I have been trying for A nice fox shot for ages lol . Only badger ,stoat ,otter, roe deer etc etc etc to go now lol !!
Thanks to everyone that takes the time with comments, faves, advice it all really does mean A great deal

It's just so darned cool to have these guys back in the neighborhood.
I saw this one out my kitchen window, running up through my neighbor's yard, and coming in my direction.
I grabbed my camera and ran out on the driveway just in time to catch him cutting across the back lawn, heading towards the woods.
Foxie Mama came through for me, and brought her approx. 6 week old kits (4 of them) to stay a while under my deck! Sadie and Mystery are acting as teenager yearling babysitters. Mama must have known I needed her and her kits. On Thursday I learned I would get no teaching contract for next year (due to downsizing & reorganizing). (The teaching profession is in the pits for who knows how long). I wish this hadn't happened two years before I was to retire. I am at an age where being without health insurance is very scary. Foxie brought the kits to the deck den on Friday during the previous night. She must have "known" I needed something to smile about.........I don't know that my heart is into posting to FLICKR at the moment (I've been living in fear of this for months.....hence, my lack of participation recently). The foxes make me want to share, however, so here is their introduction!
