This was the second painting I did by mouth. It shows a stemcell reconnecting nerves, allowing the axons to send messages.

During the Royalty Theater presentation by ex-scientologists about the Scientology cult's human rights abuses and criminal activites, a few of us stayed outside with picket signs and flyers. This obviously emaciated SeaOrg scientologist with his ipod walked by with blinders on, refusing to so much as look.

This used to be their main low rank Sea Org uniform on the streets of Clearwater, but then they introduced a blue shirt version, which reflects the rank-organization the cult has. The highest level in the SeaOrg wear quasi-military naval-esque uniforms, gold epaulets and all. Several Scientology "FLAG busses" passed by that same intersection and some of the passengers did look at the message in the signs. If Anonymous helped save one life or reconnects one family today, it was worth it.

On April 12, 2008 in Clearwater Florida USA, Anonymous gathered for Operation Reconnect as part of a Global Protest against the family destroying disconnection policy and other human rights abuses of the scientology cult . These protests took place in over 50 cities across the globe for the third straight month, with worldwide numbers estimated in the 7,000 range. Without exception, these hundreds of protests staged in early 2008 have been peaceful, free speech assemblies educating the world to the dangers of this insidious cult.

These are brave people of all ages and all walks of life, standing shoulder to shoulder with ex-Scientologists to bring the truth to you. All faces of those unmasked are blurred to protect them from the cult's "Fair Game" policy of harassing it's critics. This is a recreation of an older painting. The original painting was the second painting I did by mouth. It shows a stemcell reconnecting nerves, allowing the axons to send messages past the injured area.

I created this version on my iPad, for inclusion to my sketchbook. The concept behind this drawing was inspired by a documentary I watched, shortly after my accident. The documentary was a "60 Minutes" episode about stem cell research. In the episode, they interviewed representatives from a company called Geron, which had successfully reconnected injured spinal cords in rats. The researcher, Dr. Hans Keirstead was very inspiring and hopeful for a cure, for humans. I've been following his work ever since I saw that original program.

On Monday, November 25, 2019, USDA Rural Development Administrator for Rural Utilities Service Chad Rupe announced a $5.13 million investment in broadband infrastructure in rural Utah and Colorado. The grants, made through the ReConnect pilot program, went to Beehive Broadband of Lake Point, Utah for projects impacting Box Elder, Wayne, and Garfield Counties including the community of Snowville, Utah; and to Emery Telecommunications of Orangeville, Utah for a project impacting eastern San Juan County, Utah and Dolores County Colorado including the community of Dove Creek. These projects will be used to install fiber to the premises to allow for high speed broadband capacity in significantly rural areas. This will have a positive impact on schools, rural small businesses, and public safety. Joined by USDA Rural Development State Director for Utah Randy Parker, Beehive Broadband CEO Cameron Francis, and Emery Telecommunications CEO Brock Johanson, Rupe announced the investment will impact over 675 households over the scope of the projects.

A quarter million people joined the Climate Action March around the world on Sep. 8, 2018, asking for immediate action to reduce climate change.

In San Francisco, thousands of activists created one the largest street murals ever made, covering five blocks of city streets with dozens of colorful scenes illustrating possible solutions to global warming, all around the City Hall plaza.

Each mural was designed by a different community group, and painted on the ground in large 35-feet wide circles, with washable tempera paint. Murals featured in this photo set were created by the Sierra Club ("Keep close to Nature's heart"), environmental students at UC Berkeley (“Fiat Lux”) and SFUSD (“Write History Wisely”).

Everyone was welcome to join and it was a sight to behold! Participants ranged from veteran environmentalists to young activists, with very diverse backgrounds, coming together from all across California and beyond. We used this creative art form to demand that our leaders act now to cut back on fossil fuels and switch over to renewable energy, before it’s too late.

High school students from ‘Generation: Our Climate’ participated actively in this event, and were interviewed by both KQED and KPFA. I volunteer with their group and am inspired by their knowledge and passion. I really enjoy our collaboration, which bridges the gap between generations that are too often separated into different silos.

The Climate March was also a great opportunity to reconnect with many of my activist friends, including Marilyn, Wayne and the Freedom Singers. We posed together in front of a colorful float of Mayahuel, the Aztec goddess of fertility, created by Latino activists in the wood shop of a Mission high school.

Kudos to art director David Solnit and team at 350.org for guiding the creation of these murals and many of the signs for this march -- inspiring a diverse community of citizens of all ages. Many thanks to all who marched, painted, chanted, organized and spoke up for a better world at the Climate Marches around the world. This wonderful blend of art, music and activism helped engage more people to fight for climate justice. Let there be light!
