In 1986, the year we graduated, Stac finally decided that she liked me this time. By now my hair had gotten long and grown out, my sense of style was a little more settled. She asked me to a girls choice dance at Logan (I went to a different High School). I remember we watched Psycho at someone's place of business down town on Main Street. I had a good time, but now I didn't like her the way she liked me. So this was the second of our formal dates in High School. We still hung around in the same group of friends, but the whole dating thing never clicked in High School. Later..... they would click and we'd get married, but that's later.

Albergue OlĆmpico, Salinas – It was around 1400hrs, Friday 18 Feb 2011, when the first group of parents and children arrived to participate in the first Youth Weekend Camp for Reservist’s dependents in the island. Army Reserve personnel from the continental United States and from the First Mission Command were receiving the children, as their parents finished the registration paperwork. ā€œThe happiness is contagious today. The reservists residing in Puerto Rico were asking for a long time to have this event in the island and today it has become a realityā€, said Marta Feliciano, Child and Youth Support Services Specialist.

One of the first parents to arrive was Sergeant Julio Acosta Portalatin, from Puerto Nuevo. He brought his son Abimael Acosta, 11 years old. ā€œThis camp is an excellent idea and a great opportunity for our kids to get away from the video games and share this experience with other kids. I recently arrived from a deployment and my son experienced firsthand the sacrifice of being a military dependent. Now, with this camp, he can see and experience the great benefits that come along with that sacrificeā€, said the non commissioned officer who is assigned to Charlie Company, 35th Signal Battalion.

Another parent that expressed his excitement was Sergeant First Class Felix Rivera from Ponce. He brought Alexa and Nicole, who are 13 years old, and Delmarie and Felix who are 8 years old. ā€œThis youth camp confirms that the U.S. Army Reserve always takes care of our families. These events give me great satisfaction and put me at ease because I know that whenever I am away from the family, the Army Reserve will take care of themā€.

The event also served to reconnect Mrs. Janet Rios Beltran with the military. Rios Beltran lost her husband, Specialist Juan Carlos Luna Lopez, last year. Specialist Luna was conducting post mobilization training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, in preparation for deployment. ā€œI feel happy of being able to participate in this camp. It is great to be able to bring my son to this event. I am very grateful to the U.S. Army Reserve in Puerto Rico. They have treated me and my son, like a familyā€ said Mrs. Rios Beltran, while observed her son play with other children.

Ninety children within the ages of 5-17 years old participated in the youth camp, free of charge. Camp counselors were available throughout the weekend teaching the participants on sports techniques and guiding them, while enjoying the Puerto Rico’s Olympic Center facilities.

This youth weekend camp is part of the United States Army Reserve effort to take care of military families. The First Mission Support Command Family Program offers education, training, referrals and periodic contact to the Soldier’s families during their mobilization. Through these initiatives, the United States Army Reserve in Puerto Rico ensures the military families are ready to face periods of separation.

More than 1,000 alumni took out their "Passport to Oswego" for Reunion Weekend 2014, to reconnect with old friends and classmates, celebrate and make memories. Reunion class years, Greeks and groups celebrated anniversaries. Tours were held around campus. A great time was had by all. We hope you come back to your alma mater soon!

one of my favorite friends to shoot with not only because she can be so expressive and cooperative with my ideas but also because we can have interesting conversation between shooting from location to location and i can gain so much insight and learn about life. i'm always eager to film with or shoot people because that means i get the chance to talk to them and get to know them better.

i probably rely on hitting up people for photoshoots as my way of asking to hang out instead of just asking to hang out. if you don't know the person too well it could be awkward when you meet with no purpose but conversation which can be hard to spark, but when the meeting has an objective then social awkwardness can be avoided.

but of course that wasn't the case with this day nor is it ever with rika :D quite a fun day. brunch at le fournil, exploring a park near the IMA, photoshoot on a bridge, in weeds, and on a lonely bench; returning to starbucks on the ave and talking more on the tables outside. there's always some interesting topic to discuss from something we've read about online or observations about people or whatever is going on in life.

topics included different ways people snapchat, jsa leadership, conflicts and cooperation, deciding whether to to do a hackathon if you can't put in 100%, networking to find the opportunity for a position that leads to your career goal, regretting not discovering informatics major earlier, changing from passively spending time with whoever asks to actively asking certain friends you have a desire to reconnect with, not being afraid to ask for someones time or even texting them regardless of your standing relative to theirs, sometimes not reaching out to get to know someone better because you've already established a friend base, two different models of dating: become official->date vs date->become official, having a special spot on campus, graduation and separation of friends, goal of creating an influential and pervasive ad campaign like got milk, writing notes of encouragement to a friend years ago and the friend rediscovering them and sending a picture to you during finals week, the level of difficulty of photography compared to music and drawing, difficulty of keeping in contact with friends after graduation even with social media, and many more i can't recall at the moment.

later we parted ways; she went to see a friend who was having a rough week and i went to gasworks with jsa freshmen buddies and the cutest jsa couple. i learned a lot and got reassured for some things and got to see so many wonderful people on a day with such great weather too.

Ames High School class of 1976 40-year post reunion summary

The 40th reunion was amazing!! Almost 100 of our classmates met on Friday July 15 at Elks Lodge downtown Ames Iowa, which was a nice venue, it provided lots of room and great backgrounds for photos and lots and lots of re-connecting and conversation with friends and classmates. The Friday evening reunion photos are here: Fri eve

Saturday, July 16 we all toured the High School then met again at the Memorial Union for group photos out on the steps and more photos and dinner in the Sun Room and another wonderfully enchanted evening of re-connecting with old friends. It was so much fun to see classmates we had not seen for so long, in some cases not since AHS days 40 years ago. We all have journeyed 40 years to get to this spot in time. It is something ever so special to have friends that span most, if not all of your life, especially after 40 plus years. Saturday evening 40th reunion photos are here: Sat eve

Reconnecting young adults to nature by providing volunteer and employment opportunities to the next generation of resource stewards is a critical Secretarial and Service priority. In FY2014, the Dworshak National Fish Hatchery (Idaho) partnered with the Nez Perce Tribe who hired six youths through the Nez Perce's Clearwater River Coho Restoration/Tribal Fisheries Intern Development Program, a six-week program totaling 2,400 hours. Young tribal members had the opportunity to work at the Dworshak and Kooskia National Fish Hatcheries on Steelhead, Chinook, Coho spawning and rearing and kelt reconditioning. All youths participated in fish culture activities such as feeding fish, picking mortalities, tagging fish, fish health, cleaning ponds, daily record keeping, and spawning of salmonids. The interns also worked with the Idaho Fish Health Center laboratory. They conducted field work and were exposed to a broad suite of fisheries activities. Photo by Angela Feldmann/USFWS.

16-Nov-2009, Jerusalem - Ethiopian Jews celebrate the Sigd holiday.

The Ethiopian Jewish community, called Beta-Israel, lived in seclusion for over 1,000 years, only reconnecting to the Jewish world in the late 20th century. According to Ethiopian tradition, their roots go back 3,000 years to the era of King Solomon. Like their brethren in many parts of the world, Ethiopian Jews suffered persecution for their beliefs and refusal to adopt Christianity. In the Middle Ages their lands were confiscated, villages plundered and many murdered. They were nicknamed Falash - intruders, homeless and without property. Despite the hardships, this community preserved their traditions with great devotion and generations were educated on the value of yearning for a return to Jerusalem, The Holy City, home of The Temple, pure and holy. The Sigd celebrations, Sigd meaning "to bow or prostate oneself", convey their love and yearning for Jerusalem.

Traditionally the celebrations took place on a hilltop looking toward Jerusalem, signifying a renewal of the bond with God. Now, with a community of over 150,000 in Israel the main event takes place annually at the Sherover Promenade in Jerusalem, overlooking The Temple Mount.Thousands followed the Kessim, the religious leaders, and gathered in the late morning hours in colorful traditional garments or in whites signifying purity, to pray and give thanks. Guests of honor included Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat.

The yearning for Jerusalem has become a reality. Israeli-born offspring to Ethiopian Jews are finding it more and more difficult to identify with the aspirations of their forefathers. First signs are evident that this ancient ethnic celebration of hope and faith might one day be forgotten.

Discrimination signs in a scientologist-owned business, which are the majority in largely-deserted downtown Clearwater, Florida on April 12, 2008.

The irony is that local scientologist spokesperson Pat Harney called Anonymous hate criminals, but the last time Florida saw these "your kind not welcome here" signs on storefronts was in the Jim Crow days of the deep south. Think about it Pat.

On Monday, November 25, 2019, USDA Rural Development Administrator for Rural Utilities Service Chad Rupe announced a $5.13 million investment in broadband infrastructure in rural Utah and Colorado. The grants, made through the ReConnect pilot program, went to Beehive Broadband of Lake Point, Utah for projects impacting Box Elder, Wayne, and Garfield Counties including the community of Snowville, Utah; and to Emery Telecommunications of Orangeville, Utah for a project impacting eastern San Juan County, Utah and Dolores County Colorado including the community of Dove Creek. These projects will be used to install fiber to the premises to allow for high speed broadband capacity in significantly rural areas. This will have a positive impact on schools, rural small businesses, and public safety. Joined by USDA Rural Development State Director for Utah Randy Parker, Beehive Broadband CEO Cameron Francis, and Emery Telecommunications CEO Brock Johanson, Rupe announced the investment will impact over 675 households over the scope of the projects.
