This photo here was inspired by this mirror. As I sit, Looking in the mirror, Admiring my beauty, My hair, So delicate & beautiful. The colors rave my personality. In my mind everything looks flawless & life is good & Nothing is wrong and everything is picture perfect. But reality sits in and as my mirror shatters, I look and see how my reality is far from perfect. The problems life shares with me are still present. As I look around at my perfect surroundings, Listen to the birds sing, Feel the softness of the snow fall, I look back and my mirror gives me a reality check. Disregarding reality, I "Log" back on to my perfection, where life is good and I am Independently happy, I am at ease. I now realize I'd rather dance in the false shadows than sway in life's limelight.

From my Reality of Place series.
I am intrigued with how a person adapts to their environment; how they are absorbed and changed. I recently moved to the Midwest after living in Southern California for 20 years. This move has impacted my work by forcing me to deal with the reality of a given place. It has helped me pay attention to and appreciate the details of diverse environments.
Having always been intrigued with various aspects of reality, I chose photography as the medium to help me reveal/obscure truths. To me, reality is about the landscape, the environment…. fitting-in, disappearing, blending-in, and perhaps, ultimately embracing.
In this new work, I have placed my husband (Michael) in various landscapes to both highlight and obscure his presence while celebrating the reality of place.

I'm not ready to get back to reality yet. After a long three day weekend at the beach with friends, I didn't want to go back to work but alas I had to. But that didn't mean I couldn't still have a bit of a vacation feel for my dinner. Before heading home, we went to a local fish market that closed for the season yesterday and bought stuffed shrimp, stuffed sole, crab cakes, chowder at half price. Most everything is in the freezer but the shrimp I had for dinner tonight :) Just a little of the beach atmosphere left behind.

Over 2,500 high school students from around the Rio Grande Valley visit UTRGV to kick of HESTEC week with the STEM expo at the Edinburg Fieldhouse on Monday, October 1st, 2018. Alongside the STEM expo, students are able to engage in the augmented reality booth. They are able to interact with different AR simulations. Augmented reality differs from virtual reality in that AR is not limited to a head-mounted display which can be beneficial in more ways because of its flexibility.
