Reality sinks in on day two. Hiking for six hours a day is not as easy as it sounds. And day two – mostly downhill – taught us that going downhill is ALSO not as easy as it sounds.
Zubiri’s auberge is municipal and small. It was our first taste of what would become an uncomfortable and unfortunate consequence of the Camino’s intense popularity: the bed race. Simply put, there are no longer sufficient spaces to accommodate the huge number of walkers. The mental stress of finding a bed at the end of the day is not something to be taken lightly. Many of the hikers at this stage put a quick end to their journey. This, above any other consideration, should be seriously borne.
The middle of the aquarium had it's own bird sanctuary for birds that were injured and could no longer fly. The wing on this little guy was stuck like that. There was another one that would swim in tight little circles.

I left some cash under the tab of his root beer can. An hour or so later I went back and he was gone, the cash gone, and the can remained.

Seen from the Balcony of the Heyward House Hotel in Liverpool, at night, with the lights on this old queen looks majestic. Unfortunately in the cold light of a grey and miserable day the illusion is shattered as the harsh reality hits home.
Collaborative installation with Garrett Deiter. This piece was created in our garage and consisted of a variety of "20 something yr. old" items like a skate ramp, bike, kegerator (fridge designed to hold kegs), suitcase, plants, surfboard, and more. The point of this installation was to draw attention to the idea that all these objects really aren't anything important in the end, they're just things. And at certain times these things may seem so important or defining of our lives, but life is about much more then what we have. We chose to wipe this reality out.
Reality is never far away in Cambodia. It is very sobering. Every time I see someone in their fifties I wonder what they have seen and what horrors they were forced to live through.

Returning back to Chatswood for the first time since June, Reality Dreaming brings on a belated Halloween themed gig, rocking hard and playing loud. Friday, November 3rd, 2017.
The tides of reality crash like planes of normality upon the scattered remains of my slain sanity. In a vicious mist of passionate joy the sounds and sights of a toddler’s broken toy fill the cold floor of my house with warm madness and toil with the inner being in my psyche’s sadness.
Decided I felt like randomly writing an impromptu rhyme.
As the plane dipped below the clouds on my way home from England the sun appeared, trapped in an alternative dream world, suspended between realities.
