When people discover that I run, an all too common question comes. "Have you run the Boston Marathon?" "Well, yes I have." Most people do not realize you have to qualify to be considered for entry in Boston. To the gifted runner, it is just a race they can choose to enter or not. For the rest of us, running a BMQ (Boston Marathon Qualifier) time takes everything we have to give and more. I would like to run it again, but that is not the all consuming mindset that gets an ordinary runner to the prestigious event. I am proud of what I did to get to Boston in 2008. However, I am a "real" runner, because I keep lacing-up even when my watch saying I am slowing down.

OVER 900 drinkers joined in the fun at the 9th annual Thorner Beer Festival in the Victory Hall.
Locally sourced ales on draught were added to by a variety of kegs from as far afield as Stirling and Somerset.
Entertainment was provided by the ever popular Leeds Morris Men, calypso style steel drum band IC Steel.
The event is organised by Peter Schofield, head of the beer festival committee, and the rest of the team and volunteers who worked hard to put on the enjoyable occasion.
New members to the committee are always welcome if you wish to join in organising next year’s event.

El recinto ha sido habitualmente utilizado como lugar de alojamiento de los miembros de la Casa Real Española y de jefes de Estado de visita en la ciudad. Fue declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad, junto a la catedral y el Archivo de Indias en el año 1987.

Casa palacio de Hernán Pérez del Pulgar.
Edificio del siglo XV con Portada en piedra formada por dos columnas jónicas, balcón de forja y los escudos nobiliarios de las familias que lo han ocupado después de él, el cuerpo central está construido a modo de torre, donde está la habitación de Hernán Pérez del Pulgar, y en el interior de la casa alberga un interesante patio porticado castellano con pozo central. También son destacables los Escudos Heráldicos del Artesonado del techo.
En la actualidad este Palacio conserva el Patio original así como la habitación de Hernán Pérez del Pulgar. También alberga el Museo municipal López Villaseñor de pintura y escultura, así como el Archivo Histórico Municipal y una Sala de Exposiciones Temporales.
