Walking around at home, after the last few wet days I have a huge variety of mushrooms popping up around the place. I don't know what any of them are, but there are several that are very interesting and photogenic.
Carso Plaza, Mexico City.
Yeah... that's me.
Sitting in front of the largest window of the Carso building, on the first day of this trip.
This was a very important day since i received a job offer from a start-up company. It is not my kind of work but i guess it'll be a good chance to raise up.

Off and on for the past two weeks we have been hearing a sporadic pre-dawn squawk of a yellow-crowned night heron in the pine tree at the corner of our house; yet no heron could be found in the morning light. It's the season when we daily search the limbs looking for the whole colony that returns from the previous year to repair their nests and raise the next generation. (Some of you may remember them from last year's posts.) But where are the rest of them? Finally, this morning - the full chorus! So far I have counted 14! Because of their proximity in the yard, we can't avoid being entertained by each other. They do what birds do at this time of year and we laugh. I do what I do - perch on my ladder in contorting positions with my camera and they seem equally entertained. =))
Sound voice text for their calls, if you are interested...

This is a photo taken of London's Tower Bridge, as it's being raised for a large cruise ship to pass under. The Olympic rings have also been raised on the underneath of the top part of the bridge to make room for the ship.
The pictured group installed the flagpole and raised the flag in front of Fairview Hall for Election Day 2024. From the left: Annie, Louie, Doug, Jack, and Whitney. This is actually a street photo, even though the street is not paved. In case you are wondering, I believe that 135 people left their ranches and farms to vote. I am not sure, but I see this image as my Mount Surabachi moment, who knows maybe it will resonate with modern Americans.

A cold breeze raises the crest feathers on an American Tree Sparrow (Spizelloides arborea) catching the last rays of the sun. Tree sparrows spend the winter in the continental U.S in brushy habitats., but nest during the summer in boreal and Arctic regions of North America. Mis-named by European settlers, Tree Sparrows are actually ground dwellers and nesters (if that is indeed a verb..). Their small size, equating to a high surface area to volume ratio (and thus high heat loss), requires regular eating in cold weather. According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology they consume 30% of their body mass each day. Not eating in a 24 hour period results in death of the bird. This equates to tough times when we have weather like we do now- a foot of new snow and temperatures below 10° F (-12° C).
Happy National Bird Day! (Thanks to Tom Blandford and Debbie T for broadcasting this day of avian celebration).

I've come to accept that lego simply doesn't have the parts to accurately depict the 0 Raiser at this scale. Ah well--still better than the first version!
The Sony A7s has already blown me away with its strengths for astrophotography; last night I gave it a workout for some lightpainting and found it's no less impressive.
Single, continuous exposure, JPG straight from the camera w/ resize & watermark in Lightroom. No other editing or tonal adjustments.
EXIF is intact but missing a couple of elements due to shooting the Sony body with my 35mm Nikkor lens through a cheapo adapter. I guess it was about f/8, maybe a little wider.
