The Galah (Eolophus roseicapilla), less commonly known as the pink and grey cockatoo or rose-breasted cockatoo, is an Australian species of cockatoo and the only member of the genus Eolophus. The galah is adapted to a wide variety of modified and unmodified habitats and is one of Australia's most abundant and widespread bird species

Someone forgot to check the height of the bridge before sailing into it. Since this is The Titanic it will save the ship from hitting an iceberg and sinking. The bridge, on the other hand, didn't fare as well. I suppose this is what is called alt history. Who are you going to believe? Me or the history books. I've got this picture to prove I'm right!

With the CP 509 bridges raised, the Arthur M. Anderson floats its way up the Calumet River after unloading coal on Chicago’s South Side. The liftbridges here were built in 1912 and only one is still used today by NS.

A completely unexpected shot today as these two swans took off quite noisily and with much flapping across the far side of the reservoir, took to the air, circled and flew low directly over our heads

The Raising Moment at Bagan - Myanmar

An actual “manskip” at Empire Mines State Park in Grass Valley California located at the opening of one of the mine shafts. A skip which was similar conceptually to an elevator, but actually at an angle of approximately 60 degrees would lower and raise a larger group of men in & out of mine. It was able to lower mining crews at a downward velocity of 600 feet per minute up to depths of 4,000 feet. - [ ] Having raised my three children in the borough of North Arlington NJ where I resided for over 20 years where a large portion of the borough lies within the New Jersey Meadows or Meadowlands which at one point was a area loaded with white cedar, which was utilized to build burgeoning metropolis across the North River or Hudson as it is called today. The remnants of cedar were overtaken by pervasive phragmites which include as they are often referred to cattails. A natural estuary of brackish water that is a stop for thousands of migratory birds, it is an amazing story of reversal of 100 years of the Industrial Revolution’s pollution of the Passaic and Hackensack Rivers that feed the estuary. I saw such over the two decades I resided there, often riding my bicycle through the nature center that bordered my old office. This image is of the cattail variety of phragmites as the sun was setting in the New Jersey Meadowlands. - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotoweek @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamrac @tiffen @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany @njdotcom @njspots @njshooterz @newjerseyisntboring @newjerseyisbeautiful @bergencountynj

Inca Doves have a sweet surprise usually hidden away...their lovely chestnut brown underwings! Both Incas in this pair were displaying their underwing feathers, so you'll see a shot of both of them together soon!

Once again I stand on the very edge and cannot bring myself to make the jump to a full mono. Still, the view is very nice from here and I suppose there's always a next time. I do wonder whether I'm eating a full fried breakfast without the eggs and sausages at times though. There are those that manage veganism wonderfully but my experience so far is a turbulent one and maybe I shouldn't get too close to the edge anyway.

Thank you for passing by :)

Among nature's most fastidious creatures is the Acorn Woodpecker, who spends most of its day meticulously seeking out perfect acorns, drilling perfectly sized holes to fit their perfect acorns, and wedging them perfectly into said holes, storing thousands of these tasty morsels for leaner times. They defend these granaries fiercely against all intruders, including animals as imposing as black bears.

Acorn Woodpeckers are wide ranging, occurring from California through the southwestern U.S. into Latin America as far south as Columbia. Like many woodpeckers, they are cooperative breeders, and adult offspring of the nesting pair may help raise their younger siblings.

Walking down a raised boardwalk at night with several loose boards was an exercise in focus. By focus I mean keeping my head-lamp down on the boardwalk to avoid stumbling into the surrounding wetland.

Luckily I stayed out of the wetland and managed to compose some images of the milky way just beyond the end of the wooden walkway. With the core showing up along the West Coast starting around midnight, I'm looking forward to seeing more of the night sky in 2021!

Extremely fortunate to share this image with you all via Explore! Thank you for your feedback and the continued encouragement! Cheers!

Another trip to Millers Wood in howling gales and sporadic torrential rain made for some interesting images. Luckily I was in the dry unlike my feathered friends.

"Raise Your Glass" by P!nk

So raise your glass if you are wrong

In all the right ways

All my underdogs

We will never be never be, anything but loud

And nitty gritty dirty little freaks

Won't you come on and come on and raise your glass

Just come on and come on and raise your glass

Slam slam, oh hot damn

What part of party don't you understand

Wish you'd just freak out (freak out already)

Can't stop, comin' in hot

I should be locked up right on the spot

It's so on right now (so fuckin' on right now)

Raising the middle finger may not be a mature gesture, but at least it expresses my real feelings about some annoying creatures that insist not just minding their own pitiful existense but instead to keep on interfering in something that it's not part of them anymore. ILD,my Sunbeam💕

Ravaged by fire on the evening of 12 November 2022, the Dundee retail premises known as Willison House were latterly the subject of a planning application for conversion to student flats.

The building, at the junction of Barrack Street and Willison Street, was erected around 1934 to the designs of architectural practice Findlay Stewart and Robbie, for the local house furnishing firm John L Robertson Ltd. The appearance of this arresting piece of Art Deco in one of the city's ancient thoroughfares probably raised a few eyebrows at the time.

Robertson's ceased trading in 2011 and the shop—by then looking a little the worse for wear—fell into abandonment.

Within days of the fire, demolition of the building's shell began.

Had one more image to share from the inside of the "Cathedral of the Incarnation", this time looking out to the towering rear exit of the church. This shot was captured with a wide angle lens to help further accentuate the high walls and soaring ceiling of this beautiful cathedral.
