The rain was a constant companion through the 4 days Belle and I spent in the “Chapada”. I confess it brought frustration sometimes, but without it we wouldn't have beautiful experiences like walking through the brazilian savanna (cerrado) for over half an hour, under such a heavy rain that we arrived as soaked as if we had just gotten out of a waterfall. To learn to appreciate the rain is an exercise of patience, but also a contemplation of the divine. As a famous brazilian rock singer (Raul Seixas) used to say, “the rain, coming back to earth, brings things from the air”.

Heavy rain in the area, remnants of Hurricane Ida, has left this field under water. It caught my eye as I was driving past and I decided to stop and get a shot or two.

Today's Halton Gill Gala, probably the smallest, most intimate gathering of people in the Yorkshire Dales, saw the fell race played out in heavy rain. Nowt fresh there then! It does make it 'ard work to get great photos but it also adds a special touch to the scene. When the race finished..guess what?..the sun came out!
When entering forest without trails one needs a machete. Northern forests don't seem to have the flourishing lower level growth that crowds tropical rain forests.
