We've had some awful weather today, torrential rain, hail storms, thunder and lightning. I managed to miss the worst when I walked Tasku this morning but we both got soaked this evening. I took this while watching the storm in the afternoon.

Finally. Hummingbird on a Spanish Dagger Yucca frond in the rain. Full frame. No crop. No post processing.
I've had this pic for a couple months but haven't posted it because I thought it was missing something. Maybe not though, so here it is! :D It's a valley near the Kentucky and Tennessee border.
With intermittent sunlight and rain this morning, I raced outside with coffee and camera and cardboard.
Belly shot with elbow tripod. Thanks for looking. I know a lot of you don't like bokeh balls. I do.
Stay safe. And have a good International Women's Day and decade, or two!
June was the driest on record in 131 years. Even scattered showers are welcome. It's not enough - let's hope for more rain & fewer wildfires.

I had to drive across one of the prettiest parts of the Yorkshire Wolds on Wednesday to do a piece of work. I was looking forward to taking some photographs sadly the weather intervened… the sky filled in with cloud and its poured with rain. I stopped at one point near Bugthorpe to take this shot I and the camera got pretty wet rather quickly so this was the only image I managed. Not pretty but it has a certain atmosphere.
I did have to push up the exposure on Lightroom it was just too dark
P.S. I choose this image to post yesterday morning I had no idea it would be so appropriate to my feelings this morning. No doubt some of you out there feel the sun is shining. Think I will go back to bed now
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.

Markyate is a street village set along the bed of the River Ver and is surrounded by the hills of the Chilterns (Hertfordshire). Since water has the habit of following gravity, rainwater would accumulate at the lowest possible point, which is where the life of the village and that of the river intersect. The river bed is tiny and, inside the village, culverted too, which means that surface water would need a long time to run off. A rainstorm such as that hitting us last night will inevitably cause damage for those residents whose houses have been built in the flood plane. I have spoken to some of these residents and found to my astonishment that they were not aware of this fact. Had nobody told them? Fuji X100F.
I am sure you have heard that California has turned from a hot, dry, shriveled section of the West Coast to a lush, jungle like wetland pretty fast. For a state that relies on water the survival of the environment, vast agriculture, and green lawns for millions of people the change is welcome. For the fish and farmers that rely on this water for survival it is like raining gold.
Recent rains here in San Diego have made streams like this one at Sunset Cliffs appear where they had not flowed for many years.
