The Rabbit Ears Motel and its creepy pink bunny have been Steamboat Springs landmarks since they were first built in the late '70s. "I can't believe that the city would attack the Rabbit Ears," says Garfinkel. "It's such an amazing piece of art." Owner Ron Koehler agreed, and he responded by spending years in court, until he was finally vindicated in the early '80s when the sign was grandfathered in. In 2003, Koehler won the war-the sign was placed on the Rout County Historic Register.
