Many of you will have seen Gerry at one time or another over the years and in a variety of states. He was a real character and as someone commented "the Alpha Male of the Belfast Street Drinkers". At over 6 feet he was a big man with a beard to match. Who knows what lurked in there *shudders* but i always found him to be alright.
One of the more affable street drinkers Gerry passed away earlier this
week. A little bit of Belfast history has passed on. We won't see the likes of him again as the newer generation of drinkers have a harder edge to them without the humility and old school character of Gerry.
Sad to think that he never got to get inside the Victoria Centre (which opens today) to annoy the staff in his own inimitable style!
Where ever you are Gerry i hope you are happy.

On my walk around the city to catch up with what's happening, February 26, 2016 Christchurch New Zealand.
By 1972 Leyland Royal Tiger PYA 578 was off the road after 19 years of service. This shot shows the Heaver 'New Mark' body to good effect and its similarity to Burlingham's Seagull.
Looking rather forlorn PYA was soon to be sold to a breaker in the village of Coleford, a few miles away, where she would be broken up.
Elmore Rual Torn, aka Rip Torn is an
actor. His performance as Artie on The Larry Sanders Show never failed to provide belly laughs. Mike MacRae does a great impression of Torn on The Jimmy Dore Show.

Although the chain stores went into liquidation a few days ago with the possibility of a couple of buyers for the Firm, all branches shut their doors this morning and ceased trading. RIP.

A happy-snappy iPhone shot taken this morning as the boys (Henry in this case) enjoyed playing with the wrapping paper and cardboard boxes.
They also love to help you unwrap the presents.
All you have to do is get a bit of the paper peeled away as a start and they rip the rest off with gusto!
Then they shake the paper and play keep-away for a while, before finally settling down to some contented ripping and shredding.
This "enrichment activity" was part of our Christmas gift to them, and they enjoyed it mightily!
This particular shot had a few Photoshop artistic filters run on it, for grins and giggles.

The former BBC designer and Dalek creator, Raymond Cusick has died aged 84.

Ray created the Dalek characters featured in the Dr Who television series nearly 50 years ago.
Many childhood memories are brought back to life by remembering the Daleks and their battles with Dr Who.
I was only experimenting with photographing Daleks in my kitchen a couple of weeks ago and was looking to create something with sci-fi colors and the menace of the Daleks.
RIP Ray - you brought joy and terror to millions with these evil machines.
With their deadly ray guns and their metallic "Exterminate" voices they were just killing machines.
As a child I was frightened of the Daleks even though they couldn't get up stairs to get me in my bedroom :-).
