During the drought here the wetland areas dried up, but some areas started growing some kind of grass. When the water came back, the ducks had to navigate in the grass clumps. All the lighter colored vegetation on the far side is grass that grew during the drought. This whole wetland area has silted up over the last fifteen years so now has a much smaller area for the ducks to congregate.

A wall of a building known in recent years as the Design Center. Sometime before the 1980s, it had been Miller Brothers Auto dealership, one of many delearships along Baum Boulevard, now closed, torn down, or repurposed, like this one. The original remodel featured a bland and tacky faux facade. They've ripped it off and appear to be about to re-face it in brick. I like the transitional state best of all. I'm afraid the modern brick and windows that probably replaced the original showroom windows are going to stay.

Interesting remodel work in this house. A kitchen with a sink and a bathroom were added at some point. The old cookstove was replaced with a heater and an electric stove was where the wallpaper covered the wainscoating boards. Notice the water pipes coming down from the water heater on the second floor.
Same foundational footprint; same envelope structure. New angles roofline and windows. New metal roof with skylights over deck. House along the Tsawwassen BC golf course.
Here is the last photo in this little series from a rainy morning long ago captured while waiting for a bit on the platform at Amtrak's BWI Thurgood Marshall Station for Amtrak train 2158 to pick me up for a speedy trip through the fog and mist up to Providence. I'd been east from Alaska to attend an ASLRRA seminar and after wrapping up in Baltimore I piggybacked a little vacation time on and headed north to see my family in New England.
First opened in 1980 and remodeled in 2019 this was the first intercity rail station in the United States built to service an airport. Today it ranks as the 12th busiest of the more than 500 stations Amtrak serves. To learn more check out Amtrak's history of the ground breaking modern depot:

Anyway, as for the train it's just an unidentified MARC Penn Line train head south to Washington Union Station with HHP8 4914 (blt. 2001) shoving on the rear. This is a stark motive power contrast to what was leading the northbound MARC train I also photographed: flic.kr/p/2od6NBY
Only 21 of the 8000 hp electric locomotives were built by Bombardier-Alstom and ordered in 1996 at the same time as the Acelas to support the need for more electric locomotives when the New Haven to Boston segment of the NEC was electrified and came on line in 2000. Amtrak purchased 15 and MARC the other six and while Amtrak's racked up over one million miles each they had relatively short service lives and the last Amtrak one was out of service by 2014 as the new Siemens ACS64s took over. But as of this writing MARCs units have been rebuilt and continue in service.

Walmart #1537 1270 York Rd Gettysburg, PA. This store is set to start a remodel tomorrow 8-15! I talked to a friend who works here and they told me this will STAY a Non-Supercenter but it will add more food and frozen/dairy. He says it will look like the Westminster, MD store now that they completed their recent remodel. By now most people know that Walmart pulled it's plains to build a new Supercenter in town after finally getting Township approval after at least 10 years of planning. It will be interesting to see what Walmart will do with this remodel here. I will be stopping by this location to keep an eye on the progress as I do live near by.
The hallway that is a bit, mostly I've been busy putting pictures up, bike related, my bedroom being my feminine haven of course and a couple of extra mirrors. This is me in my new Lindy bop with a tulle petticoat underneath to make my skirt stand out more. Lovely!

Class116 P322 including 50090 departs Plymouth North Road station in May 1974
There is some clear evidence of the track having been replaced at this time and a flagman is visible to the side of the unit.
Given the position of the sun I would suggest this is around 4pm.

Fountain Elms is a historic home located at Utica in Oneida County, New York. It is part of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute. The original block was completed in 1852 in the "Italian Style". It is basically a cube with a center hall plan. The original rear wing was remodeled in 1883 and a third two story wing added. An additional wing and piazza was added in 1908, resulting in the current irregular plan.

The ducal Dowager's Palace in Plön in Schleswig-Holstein was the widow's residence of Duchess Dorothea Christine. During its history, the building also served as an orphanage and was remodelled several times. Today it is home to the Plön County Museum, which was founded in 1955 and houses the North German glass collection. The later dowager's palace emerged from an aristocratic manor house from the Middle Ages, which was first documented around 1385 and served as a fief of the nearby Plön castle. The original building was renovated around 1540 and served as an orphanage under the Dukes of Plön from 1685. From 1756 it was converted into a widow's residence for Dorothea Christine, the mother of Duke Friedrich Karl, and in the 19th century the palace housed the court pharmacy. Since the 20th century, the building has housed the Plön District Museum. The barrel-vaulted basement of the palace dates back to 1540, after which the building was extended and remodelled several times. Further changes were made to the building fabric in 1639 and 1685, and the building largely took on its current Baroque appearance around 1756, although the front was remodelled in a Neoclassical style around 1842. The palace is a two-storey building under a high mansard roof. The nine-axis building has a plastered façade facing the town, while the other façades are brick-faced. The interior was remodelled in the 19th century, but the rococo banqueting hall from 1756 facing the garden has been preserved on the upper floor.

Safeway located at 315 West 2nd St. in La Junta,CO. This store is a time capsule for Safeway decor. The most recent remodel took place in the 1980's and since then the store has remained largely unaltered. I should note that a pharmacy was added at some point and the 1970's era lettering which was at one point used throughout the store before the 1980s remodel was reused to spell PHARMACY. The front end of the store likely had two entrance and exit doors however one centralized entrance and exit has been created.
