The chicks are hatching, but the Great Egrets are still working on their nests. Resoft County Park, Alvin, Texas.
Glen Eyrie Castle is a 67-room English Tudor-style mansion built in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer, the founder of Colorado Springs. It was his wife’s dream home and is located on a beautiful 800 acre estate in the western foothills. The original structure was remodeled in 1881 to include a tower, 24 fireplaces and additional rooms. It was made to resemble a stone castle, reminiscent of those native to England.
The Palmer family sold the estate in 1953. It is now used as conference center with 7 meeting rooms, 2 dining rooms and 17 guest rooms. In 1975 Glen Eyrie was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
During the drought here the wetland areas dried up, but some areas started growing some kind of grass. When the water came back, the ducks had to navigate in the grass clumps. All the lighter colored vegetation on the far side is grass that grew during the drought. This whole wetland area has silted up over the last fifteen years so now has a much smaller area for the ducks to congregate.
Looks like a DIY remodel ...still in progress from the 70's.
Had fun capturing this - hope nothing attached itself to me while taking it.

A wall of a building known in recent years as the Design Center. Sometime before the 1980s, it had been Miller Brothers Auto dealership, one of many delearships along Baum Boulevard, now closed, torn down, or repurposed, like this one. The original remodel featured a bland and tacky faux facade. They've ripped it off and appear to be about to re-face it in brick. I like the transitional state best of all. I'm afraid the modern brick and windows that probably replaced the original showroom windows are going to stay.
Guess nothing will ever stop the need to remodel. All the grass has been removed from a large area and new sod is being installed. Cleanup and maintenace is taking place at Houston National Cemetery. Surprisingly, there's vandalism that occurs here.

Interesting remodel work in this house. A kitchen with a sink and a bathroom were added at some point. The old cookstove was replaced with a heater and an electric stove was where the wallpaper covered the wainscoating boards. Notice the water pipes coming down from the water heater on the second floor.

Walmart #1537 1270 York Rd Gettysburg, PA. This store is set to start a remodel tomorrow 8-15! I talked to a friend who works here and they told me this will STAY a Non-Supercenter but it will add more food and frozen/dairy. He says it will look like the Westminster, MD store now that they completed their recent remodel. By now most people know that Walmart pulled it's plains to build a new Supercenter in town after finally getting Township approval after at least 10 years of planning. It will be interesting to see what Walmart will do with this remodel here. I will be stopping by this location to keep an eye on the progress as I do live near by.
The hallway that is a bit, mostly I've been busy putting pictures up, bike related, my bedroom being my feminine haven of course and a couple of extra mirrors. This is me in my new Lindy bop with a tulle petticoat underneath to make my skirt stand out more. Lovely!

There is some clear evidence of the track having been replaced at this time and a flagman is visible to the side of the unit.
Given the position of the sun I would suggest this is around 4pm.
