On this Late Friday Nov 3,2017 afternoon. We see Hazzard Range county Public works Road and Street Division workers Tom Baker and Bill Carson are about to be done for the week .They are showing old pipes they found to county undersheriff Bradley Gore. The county public works is working on finishing up on new fallen soldiers memorial. It will list all 15 members of US Arm Forces who were county residents ,that have died in wars since the county was founded.The county hopes it will be done by Veterans day.

On Thursday November 25th ,2021 at 5:50 PM Hazzard Range County volunteer Fire Station 2 ( 5 miles south of Fort Hazzard station ) and Hazzard Range county Sheriff’s office Lieutenant Ron Bayerd was dispatched to home on Santa Fe RD to report of a fire .
Fire chief George Daleby told the Herald that the fire was contained to the home's kitchen and porch .
With Eagle lake reopened for day use only ,business is starting to pick up a little at Cat’s Marine and Auto repair just north of community Eagle lake . We see Hazzard Range County sheriff’s office Deputy Shawn Ridge taken a report of larceny. As Eagle Lake State Park Ranger Warren Patches passes by
On this Monday March 15 ,2021 late afternoon. We a New Mexico Rail Runner Express southbound passing the old freight depot in Sparta the county seat of Hazzard Range county. This is the start of the second week of operation since service restarted on March 8th after almost a year of being shut down because of Covid-19 . The service is running on a limited basis.
The old freight depot is leased to a local shortline called Inter county railway ( ICR) and is used for their office .

Clay County Sheriff’s office deputies have RHG Ranch rd closed between Powerline and Stateline rds . Undersheriff Amy Padilla told the Times , that Rd is closed because of the shooting and road rage incident that is being investigated .More info will be released at a later time .

New Mexico State police officer Andrew Lopez crashed his unit into a ditch after hitting a deer .This area is where the Rio Grande flows through a marshy area and Pantano rd is a paved /dirt road that goes halfway along the marsh to the little community of Pantano. Pantano means marsh in Spanish

Hazzard Range county Sheriff's office have announce arrest in two days of mayhem in southern part of the county Undersheriff Bradley Gore told the Herald that 23 year old man was arrested on 10 counts of criminal property damage. From fences to stock tanks,vehicles to vehicles was damaged in 2 day period
On Thursday March 8th ,2018 around 4:30 PM , sheriff's Deputy Andy Gather notice a Jeep XJ speeding down southwest on Territory st ,right as call came in about vehicle break on Church st . Deputy Gather took purist . after few laps around the village of Fort Hazzard . County sheriff's Sergeant Butch Soto and Deputy Gather was able to box suspect in at the Intersection of Fort and Jackson .He was taken into custody without incident. He currently beheld at the county detention center.
On this windy Monday January 30th,2023 afternoon .We see Forks Police Department Sergeant Ann Dean headed back to her unit as she leaves the police station/City hall .
Forks is made up of three ( Fork , Middle Fork and Top Fork ) little cluster of homes and businesses that form Forks In 1987 they consolidated to Form Forks with a total population of about 899 on the banks of Forks creek .Most part of the canyon they set in is home to small farms and ranches in the surrounding desert .All three Villages set in Forks Creeks Canyon along the Forks Creek in Apache County NM , just over the County Line from Hazzard Range County. Also all three are served by a joint Village Commission that has three Commissioners Forks Police Department ( FPD) has a budget of 5 officers including the Chief.

On this early Friday Feb 26 ,2021 ,We see Hazzard Range County sheriff’s office Animal control Deputy/Wildlife Investigator Dan Farco getting into his unit to head to northwest part of county to investigate another suspected wolf kill ,Undersheriff Bradley Gore is also along for trip ,
Once they get to the area it will be about a mile hike from the nearest road to document it ,federal officials have already documented it . Dan who has been on job little over the year now has taken way more then he would like to see. He is also cross commission in Clay and Sweetwater counties, He mainly documents Wolf kills for local government level records ,Mostly livestock ,but also some pets,but no humans yet .

Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Amanda Wisey assisted Deputy Nathan Milton with arresting a 35-year-old man for DWI after a single-vehicle crash on West River rd and Katy Spring Rd Junction
The driver was arrested and transported to the county detention center and the vehicle was towed.

Brandon Froll after dropping Sheriff’s office High visibility decoy unit 12 a 2008 Ford crown Victoria police interceptor off in the yard after the county commission approved it head to auction .
Some of the other vehicles we see are two 2022 Ram 1500 Classic Special Service that will be going on duty on Monday . The 2018 Ford F 150 is headed for one of the local fire stations soon . The 2015 Ford police interceptor utility and 2012 Dodge Charger Pursuit have reached the end of their lives with the Sheriff’s office; they will join unit 12 soon in the auction line . White the Unmarked 1999 Ford Crown back there is living on borrowed time as it has been filled in for Water /Wastewater Division Meter Readers ,but it soon should be on auction line also by winter/spring auction.
OASIS SPRINGS -SWEETWATER TRIBUNE
Sweetwater County sheriff's office Deputes and New Mexico State police office were dispatched to a cabin in Rio Caballo to report a shooting . Sweetwater County Sheriff TJ Gonzales told the Tribune that an unnamed 22 year male shot a 34 year female . Scene is still being investigated and more info we'll be put out at a later date . He added the Female is in stable condition at an Albuquerque hospital.

This scene takes place in the northwestern part of the county by Lake Rio Caballo which is Spanish for river horse . . The lake is named for a dam that was built in the 1920s for flood control; in the mid 1940s the forest around it became part of Hazzard Range National Forest. A Small number of homes and businesses near the lake form the small census designated community

On this Tuesday March ,27 2018 afternoon. We see Hazzard Range county Undersheriff Bradley Gore walking back to county goverment center /sheriff's office ,that also houses NM 14th Judicial District court .That is having jury selection today for upcoming trail ,so with already limited parking ,Gore found the closes spot ,but it means a 4 block walk
We also see . We also see Miller Transport Services Driver Lorrie Mead ( wife of county Sheriff's office Deputy Lance Mead ) who just picks up a elderly customer at V’s salon . This scene takes place in the county seat of Sparta .

With hardly any snow or rain since Oct 2017 ,the Rio Grande river has dried for 17 miles in Apache county and 8 miles into Hazzard Range county and most of the area is in a severe drought local and state officials are Warning of the high fire danger . Hazzard Range County sheriff's office Lieutenant Ron Bayerd a 20 year veteran of the force says he has seen the river go dry before ,but worries him that the lack of Precipitation since Oct 2017 has resulted in extreme dry conditions that could lead to big forest fires like in 2012 Top Hat fire ,2013 Mist Mt fire .
Just south of the county line Forks Police Chief Walter Jackson told Journal he shares the same thoughts as LT Bayerd,,he also adds with river dry it gives people to access to areas that this time of year you can't get to by vehicle.So his dept ,along with Apache and Hazzard Range county sheriff's offices have tried to keep a better eye on the areas . County fire admin Raymond Packers noted watchful of the public has help keep fires down and fires that do start contained to small areas .
Back in Hazzard Range county sheriff's LT Bayerd as he stands in dry river bed ,just hopes and prayers for change in the weather as does most New Mexicans .
On this warm and dry Thursday Sept 15th ,2022 .We see Hazzard Range County sheriff’s office Deputy Andy Gather walking back to his unit passing by Sergeant Jerry Sparks unit outside of Fort Hazzard Substation in southern part of the county ,
We also see NM and USA flags flying at half staff after President Joe Biden ordered them in Honoring Queen Elizabeth II who passed away last week .

A Forks Police Dept ( FPD ) officer and two Apache County sheriff's office ( ACSO) deputies were involved with high speed pursuit ,that end in a deadly crash with BNSF freight train on sheep rd . ACSO Captain Fred Allen told the Journal that the chase started when ACSO Deputy Rusty Dewitt was dispatch to a store to a report of robbery in progress on NM state rd 155 near Apache city limit , As the deputy arrived on scene along with Apache police dept ( APD) officer Ryan Keith. The suspect fled in a light blue 2013 Ford Fusion,as the driver speed away another suspect open fire on the officers ,hitting Officer Keith .
28 miles north ,Deputies and FPD officer Luke Coal caught up to the suspects on Forks Rd ,the suspects then turn onto sheep rd and right in the area the rd crosses the tracks . The suspects vehicle was hit ,when they tried to beat the train . Two of three occupants where killed on impacted and third died at Apache Regional Medical Center .
New Mexico State police are investigating.

It is mostly sunny ,with some clouds and temp near 77°F Friday March 9th afternoon . We see newly retired Hazzard Range County Sheriff's Office Head Administrative Secretary Ruth Montoya ,who worked for sheriff's office for 48 years . standing next to her is her granddaughter and they are taking to Deputy Dale Alak outside of Nate’s Outfitters & Pawn shop. Dale just got done taking info that might just ,help the sheriff's office bust a drug ring .
On this humid and warm Saturday July 10th,2021 late morning ,We see locals and visitors taken in the Founder's day car show here in Sparta, the county seat of Hazzard Range county . The celebration takes place around the 28 June every year to celebrate the founding of Hazzard Range county way back on June 28 , 1883 ,but this year it was moved because weather and other scheduling conflicts
Besides a car show ,there is a Parade ,rodeo ,vendors and live music. Scene takes place on Old Mexico / NM 308 ,which is close to traffic for the day.
Some people we see are next to the Ram 1500 County Sheriff Troy Forbes ( in Brown ) and Lieutenant Bubba Sanchez ( in white ) talking with retired county Undersheriff Bill Gillospie ,whose family owns a small sheep ranch in the county . We also See Court security and Civil Process Deputy Harry Martia unit; he along with Deputy Andy Gather are working security for this event .
On this Thursday Dec 16, 2021 late morning , We see Clay County Sheriff's office lieutenant Tom Silver talking with County volunteer fire Station 8 ( Creekdale ) fire chief David Gard outside of the Sheriff's office / volunteer fire Station. We also see a FedEx truck whose driver is inside delivering packages .

Press release from APD spokesperson Sergeant Carrie Chavez. APD officer was dispatch to 500 block of Mt view RD to report of abandoned vehicle .When the officer arrived on scene he found a deceased male in driver seat of 1989 Pontiac Firebird . The Vehicle is one involved in murder of man on June 9th,2018 just outside of the city limit .New Mexico State police is working jointly with APD .

The Herald is published once a week and has been owned by Romeros since 1919 ,but dates back to 1899.Lauretta Romero took over paper along with her older brother in 2014 from their father who had it from 1950 to 2014

Hazzard Range county Sheriff's office has a tool to track and slow down speeders . Sheriff's Lieutenant Bubba Sanchez told the Herald that ,the mobile speed radar trailer ,that tells drivers how fast they are going ,also has data recorder that logs how many speeders went by and their actual speed . Lt Sanchez also note that the trailer was obtain through a grant and this will help the Sheriff's office and State police to have data where speeding is the worst .That helps put officers where needed and just reminder to people to slow down .

NMDOT and Hazzard Range County Emergency Services Administrator ( ESA ) Davis Hokrer reported that Difficult and Severe Driving Conditions exist all over the county. ESA Hokrer noted county first responders already responded to over 60 crashes in the last 24 hours. He noted Please STAY HOME & OFF THE ROADS unless you absolutely have to be out.
