Apache County Sheriff's Office has the left lane of northbound I -25 closed near the Mama Peak rd Exit on I-25 because a semi turned over due to the high winds gusts .
The day has finally arrived , election day 2022 ( Nov 8th ) ,We see Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office Sergeant Butch Soto headed back to unit after casting his ballot at Fort Hazzard Community center in southern part of the county. The center is one of 9 places to vote in the county .
The Community center is in the old Fort Hazzard High school built in 1934 and used to 1965 school year when, Hazzard Range county schools system was formed and all students were bused to Sparta, the county seat . Unlike the elementary that was used from 1920 and used till 1939 when the High school was used for all grades . Elementary school building was torn down in 2017 . The old High school was turned into the community center in 1967 and has been used for that ever since .
On this warm Sunday Sept 19th ,2021 evening,we see Eagle Lake State Park Ranger Warren Patches investigating a report of illegal dumping in the northern end of Eagle Lake that has not seen water in about 15 years . He been with state park for about 14 years and hopes to see lake levels return to this area one day ,
On this smoky Monday May 23,2022 . We see Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office Sergeant Butch Soto talking with Fort Hazzard Substation Administrative Secretary Karen Lime. The smoke is from fire burning in White Mt range some 15 miles south of here and other fires in the area ,

Hazzard Range county sheriff's office Lieutenant Alex Hart was notified that illegal camper and trespasser at Old Fat Cat ranch had vacated the property.

The campers told rancher hand who spoted them on the way out that they thought the land was Bureau of Land Management (BLM) ,it turn out is was not .
On Chilly Wednesday Dec 16th ,2020 .We see Whiteout Industries driver locking his trailer doors outside of Snow Harbor General store/hardware as cold winds blows . Fictional Snow Harbor is on a fictional island in Beaufort Sea just off the coast from the Mainland of Alaska's north slope.

On this Friday Feb 17,2023 afternoon . We see Hazzard Range county Public works worker Darron Senski heading back to his work truck after making repairs to the communication tower for the sheriff's office substation that was damaged by Weds ( 2/15/2023 ) high winds .

Hazzard Range County Public Works crews were busy over the last week setting up the Community Christmas tree at Government Center Park in Sparta for the Community Christmas tree lighting on Saturday, November 28th, 2025, to ring in the Christmas and holiday season.
Local Resident and retiring long-time (1997 -2025) Community Health Center CEO, Dan Reast, was given the honor of turning on the lights for the first time. The extra-large crowd for the year's lighting ceremony was treated to Christmas music provided by KRTK Radio and live music by a local band ‘Cattle Call ‘, refreshments, and Santa Claus. Sparta/Hazzard Range County Chamber of Commerce President Johnny Woodward encourages everyone to do their holiday shopping at local shops whenever possible.

Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office deputies have Pump house rd close near Pump house Diversion Dam on the Rio Grande as county fire crews work to put out a brush fire .Emergency Services Administrator ( ESA ) Davis Hokrer told the Herald that fire is estimated at 25 acres and one structure is threatened.

On this 84°F Thursday March 22, 2018 after we see Forks Police Chief Walter Jackson talking with Sweetwater County Sheriff TJ Gonzales. They and Clay county sheriff Shawn Gray just got done in a meeting with Hazzard Range county sheriff Troy Forbes . Troy holds meetings with the heads of surrounding Law enforcement agencies ever month and today that is these three . Forks is a Village in Apache county ,but right on Southern county line of Hazzard Range. Clay county is county to west and Sweetwater is to the north .

Hazzard Range county Sheriff’s office Lieutenant Ron Bayerd advised he was out of his unit at Fort Hazzard Cemetery to close an open gate . Gate closed scene cleared .
On this Tuesday August 31 2021 afternoon. We see a farmer passing by Forks City hall and Police station . We also see A New Mexico Police captain getting back in his unit after meeting with Forks Police Chief Walter Jackson about having extra coverage for villages of the canyon since Forks PD is dealing with staff shortage .
Forks is made up of three ( Fork , Middle Fork and Top Fork ) little cluster of homes and businesses that form Forks In 1987 they consolidated to Form Forks with a total population of about 699 on the banks of Forks creek .Most part of the canyon they set in is home to small farms and ranches in the surrounding desert .All three Villages set in Forks Creeks Canyon along the Forks Creek in Apache County NM , just over the County Line from Hazzard Range County. Also all three are served by a joint Village Commission that has three Commissioners Forks Police Department ( FPD) has a budget of 5 officers including the Chief.

With the temperature headed into 70s on the Friday Feb 9th ,2018 . We see Eagle Lake State Park Ranger Darren Baja talking with a group of guys outside of Cat’s Marine and Auto repair. One of men is Mark Cat , owner of Cat’s Marine and Auto repair . With the warm weather more people are out on lake then normal and lake is self is about 23.6 percent full way better then last year at this time. Warm weather is great ,but with it does have big downside . See most of state don't have much snow pack , so that means come spring won't much run off .So less snow means less water in the lakes come summer and really high fire danger ,so everyone is praying for rain along with snow . Mark's business in on Winter Cove rd that runes from NM state rd 168 to Winter cove a subdivision in northern of part of county along Eagle lake. Also in the area is Narrow cove marina ,is the northern boat ramp on the lake

On Wednesday Sept 26th ,2018 . Hazzard Range county sheriff's office Deputy Dale Alak was on patrol in Eagle Lake when a Subaru Legacy passed him in no passing zone . As Deputy Alak attempted to pull over the vehicle ,the driver flied .First south on NM state rd 168 then northern and again south turning off onto Eagle lake rd . Deputy Alak with back up from Deputy Irene Gutierrez and Eagle Lake State Park Ranger Nathen Baca .The chased end in old storage building near in Eagle Lake state park . When the suspect latter identity as Phil Fra crashed into it and then open fire on officers .
Sheriff's office Lieutenant Dolly King told the Herald in press release ,that Fra shot two Sheriff's office units and State park Ranger Truck .After exchanging gun fire a officer shot and wounded Fra , He and one deputy was transported to Hazzard Range Community Health center and now at a Albuquerque hospital in stable condition . She noted that New Mexico State police are handling the investigation and more info at latter will be released by them ,but did say two Deputies are on paid admission leave

He is parked next to Blue’s cafe that is closed for now because of Covid-19 restrictions. Next door to it is the General store, a local grocery store . It is open,but there is a line to get in as the store can only have so many people in at time with Covid-19 restrictions .

At 3:32 PM on Thursday Jan 6, 2022 . Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office and County volunteer Fire Station 5 ( Sparta 2 ) responded to a report of a dumpster fire in the rear of the 400 block of Main St / NM 168 .
Fire chief Ron Peters told the Herald that the fire is under investigation ,but is believed to be arson by the state fire marshal office and sheriff’s office in handling the investigation .

They are flying at half staff ,after President Joe Biden ordered them to show a sign of respect for the service and sacrifice of the victims of the attack at the United States Capitol on Friday, April 2,that killed one capitol police officer and injured another .

Hazzard Range county sheriff's office Sergeant Butch Soto arrested a 22 year old male ,The man was charged with aggravated driving under the influence and
driving on a revoked driver’s license He failed the field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content level of .21 was then transported to the Hazzard Range county Detention Center
On this Monday August 16th,2021 mid afternoon , We see Hazzard Range County sheriff’s office Sergeant Butch Soto passing a 18 wheeler in downtown Fort Hazzard a Census designated place in southern part of the county .

On this hot Tuesday August 11th ,2020 evening . We see Hazzard Range County sheriff’s office Lieutenant Bubba Sanchez talking with Eagle Lake Irrigation District Water Master outside of the Irrigation District office in Rio Grande junction in the Rainbow Valley part of the county .
Eagle Lake Irrigation District or ELID , operates and maintains the system for ELID members in the Rainbow ,Forks and Apache Valleys,
Rainbow Valley in the central part of Hazzard Range County ,it is about a 25 mile long valley on the banks of the Rio Grande river. Sparta the county seat sits in the north part of the valley and it is called Rainbow valley because of all of the different colors of rocks . Irrigated mostly by the water of Eagle Lake, it is just north of Sparta and wells . The valley grows many things ,but mostly Chile, Onions, Corn ,Pumpkins ,Pinto Beans ,pecans and cotton. It is also home to three little census designated communities of Sun ,Mars and Rio Grande junction . Water for this area is diverted at Pump house Diversion Dam built in 1914
Forks Valley is smaller and goes east up Forks Canyon /Radar creek ,but there is a small handful of farmers who Irrigated from the Rio Grande river . So water is diverted at Sierra Ridge Diversion Dam ( built in 1909 and water is Diverted at Apache Valley Diversion Dam ( built in 1911 ) . Both dams are owned by the United States Bureau of Reclamation, which built them , and is operated by the Eagle Lake Irrigation District . Also both are in Apache county the county south of Hazzard Range county,

Muddy Spring Population of about 1000 ,it is also located 14 miles north of the county line and is about 12 miles south of Apache the county seat of Apache county.

We also see one of Herald’s workers loading up the Blue Ram 1500 with this week’s edition to be delivered . The Herald is published once a week and has been owned by Romeros since 1919 ,but dates back to 1899.
On this Saturday April 3rd ,2021 afternoon ,we see Eagle Lake State Park Ranger Robert Hall headed out of the Law and Order cafe after eating lunch ,
Law and Order Cafe is owned by retired Sheriff’s Lieutenant Joe Young ( 1973 to 2001 ) and wife of retired County Probate Judge Nancy ( 2002 to 2006 ) .
OASIS SPRING -SWEETWATER TRIBUNE
Sweetwater County sheriff's office Lieutenant Rusty Jayhon assisted Deputy Carrie Hall with arresting a woman for DWI and leading deputies on a short chase from Nelson Exit on I-25 ending at Big dog trucking and trailer sales in Nelson .
Lt Jayhon Told the Tribune that Deputy Hall tried to pull over a 1970 Chevrolet nova for failure to stay in lane of traffic . The 23 year old female speeded off exiting Nelson exit and ending up crashing into Big dog trucking and trailer sales a short disticle later . . The Driver failed a Field Sobriety Test and She blew a 0.22 and 0.23 during a breath alcohol content test . Driver was arrested and transported to the county detention center and vehicle towed to the county impound lot .

Hazzard Range county Sheriff's office Sergeant Parker Walles and Deputy Miles Gallegos were dispatched to an empty lot off of Ronchetti rd ( western Sparta the county seat ) to report an abandoned vehicle. Upon further investigation deputies found a deceased young adult female .

Once the "Tox '' comes back and the NM Office of the Medical Investigator ,rule his death heroin and others drug overdose . Residents of Hazzard Range county and across the country ( fiction and real life ) have seen a spike in drug overdose cases over the last few years . Hazzard Range county has seen 9 deaths this year alone . Most of these deaths don't make news or just make into " police reports' ' .
