On Thursday May 22nd 2025 Boom Volunteer Fire and Rescue dept, Apache Regional Medical Center EMS station 3, Apache County Sheriff's Office Deputy Helen Fernandez, and Boom Police dept Captain Lee Castillo were dispatched to Trailhead Motel in 100 block of Shell St to report of a fire in one of the room shortly after 4 pm. Fire Chief Alan Baca told the Journal that fire crews contained the fire to the rear of two rooms. The fire is under investigation. The rooms were vacant.

Boom is in the Western Part of Apache County, NM, in the Terreno llano Seco basin ( TLS basin ), and Terreno llano Seco means dry flat land in Spanish. Boom has a population of about 1,798.
