Poor Flickr Uploadr. It just can’t help itself. It’s hinky as hell.
Fortunately, Flickr is so good at crafting a friendly user experience, they even get me to feel warm fuzzies about them when their app barfs.

Answer: No, mites are different to head #lice. Mites are parasites that live inside hair follicles and feed off of the oils they produce. Lice are larger, and can be seen by the naked eye. They live on top of the human scalp, and feed exclusively on blood.

Non so come faccia, ma lui riesce sempre a far uscire qualcosa di me nelle foto che mi fa.
Forse perchè è capace di tirare fuori quel lato che rimane nascosto, volutamente, dalla sottoscritta. Forse perchè, diciamolo, rimango in disparte ad osservare le persone e a pensare se sia il caso di mostrare la mia parte più vulnerabile. Quella che esce fuori quando scrivo, o quando c'è quell'empatia che mi porta a sentirmi libera, a scrollarmi di dosso la pesantezza. Perchè sono fatta così, certe cose, anche stupide, mi gravano sulle spalle e non riesco a gettarle via. Alcune parole mi bloccano e non sono più capace di tornare indietro, di recuperare qualcosa di bello o le energie per cercarlo.
Ieri pensavo questo e oggi, caso strano, continuo a pensarlo:
Ci sono persone statiche e persone dinamiche. Chi guarda nero, chi bianco e chi filtra con i colori.
Ci sono le persone che contrastano tutto quello che hanno intorno. C'è chi rimane a immaginare e chi corre a scoprire. C'è chi si mangia la realtà e chi è indigesto di sogni. Ci sono le persone in continua metamorfosi. C'è chi nasce libero e ci crede. Io non lo so. Ma mi sa che faccio parte di almeno qualcuna di queste.

Monument classified as World Heritage by UNESCO
Built in the XIV/XV century to commemorate the victory of the 6.000 men of the Portuguese army, against the 32.000 Spanish soldiers in one of their many invasion attempts, the Monastery of Batalha is the most glorious example of the Gothic architecture in Portugal.
The story tells that in the 1383-1385 crisis, when the Spanish army with their king was marching to Lisbon to claim the throne they encountered a small Portuguese army. Laughing of such small force they've decided to pass around because they didn't want to be delayed in their conquest. The Portuguese seeing that the only chance to keep the independence was to fight and win, started to insult the Spanish calling them cowards. It had its result as the Spanish decided to turn back to teach the Portuguese a lesson...
Right from the start the battle was a catastrophe to the Spanish. When their cavalry charged, the knights started to fall into the many traps built in the battle camp. Those who escaped reached the Portuguese army in a disordered formation and tried to pull back. But while some were trying to get back, large numbers of Spanish knights not understanding what was happening continued to charge and push all in their front against the Portuguese spears! More, the Portuguese army chose a very narrow space to fight and the long spears of the Spanish knights were not maneuverable, so they started to break them in half to make them shorter. The problem was that when the broken piece was thrown to the ground the horses tripped in them and fell...
Soon it became a catastrophe to the Spanish and their king was forced run to Spain barely escaping the Portuguese persecuting force. This victory kept Portugal safe for the next 200 years...
The lovely Tracie tagged me, so I thought I would give it a go. I've had so much fun learning more about all of you. Here are a few tidbits about moi. . .
1. if you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I think I would like to meet a man named Alessio Baldovinetti. He was a Florentine, 15th-century artist who I studied for years, with the intention of writing a dissertation. The first thing I would do is apologize that I never made him more well-known. I never finished my dissertation.
2. what did you wanna be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a nun and an artist. In seventh grade when we were studying career possibilities in Girl Scouts, I chose an Occupational Therapist. Huh?
3. what's your biggest asset?
I love big.
4. what's your favorite late nite snack?
Chocolate chip cookies and a huge glass of milk.
5. if money were no object, what would you like to do?
I would buy a second house in Tuscany. I think that was a Seinfeld episode. . .
6. Name one talent you wish you had.
I wish I could sing like Eva Cassidy. Sometimes when I'm in the car by myself, I pretend I do!
7. if you knew then, what you know now.........
I would make a note of the moment that I first heard my husband's name.
8. Would you rather take a dip in a lake or the ocean?
Most definitely the ocean. I get completely freaked out by the slimy bottom of a lake, and the fact that I can't see below the surface.
9. What are your 2 favorite movies?
"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Home for the Holidays". By the way, the painting Holly Hunter is working on in the first scene of "Home for the Holidays" is a Baldovinetti painting (not the original, of course). [See question one : )] The credits are incorrect when they attribute it to Graffione. He only painted over Baldovinetti's original work. Argh.
10. List 3 things you'd like to achieve in 2011.
1. Enjoy every moment.
2. Love my family with everything that I am.
3. Work from a place of creativity on a daily basis.

Lady – a one-woman show, inspired by the character of Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth - seeks answers to a number of profound questions. Who is the Modern Woman? To what extent is our behavior guided by gender stereotypes, and to what degree by our character and primordial traits? How do Shakespearean archetypes influence our thinking and actions today? What is the price we are prepared to pay for power and success? Is there a way to help us cope with the temptations, suffering and chaos of today’s world?
The artist’s interpretation of William Shakespeare’s text reaches beyond modernization of Shakespeare’s timeless messages. Apart from presenting a study of power, passion and revenge, it takes us into the realm of female archetypes and its primordial aspects, from the protective to the murderous. Led by Hekate, the incarnation of the Witch - the forgotten Mother’s archetype - the spectators take part in a magical ritual, where messages and mantras are delivered to the sounds of gongs, rattles and sublime music of Andrzej Satanowski. Will the artist succeed in making us believe that we have the power to change the world? Will she give us hope? Will she change the course of Lady Macbeth’s destiny?

On October 1, 2011, John Carlos and Dave Zirin launched the book, The John Carlos Story, at Busboys and Poets in an event hosted by Teaching for Change, Edge of Sports, and Haymarket Press. There was a standing room only crowd for this special event. The program started with the book trailer featuring the 1968 Olympic salute by Carlos and Tommie Smith and an interview with them shortly after their historic stand. It caused a swell of applause and probably a few teary eyes. Zirin gave a rousing opening talk that connected Carlos' political stance in 1968 to that historical period and to contemporary struggles for justice including honoring the life of Troy Davis.
