A celebration of the simple beauty of being human, this funny and deeply touching exploration of resilience is based on Cheryl Strayed’s (Wild) journey as the beloved anonymous advice columnist for “Dear Sugar.” Over the years, thousands of people turned to Sugar for words of wisdom, compassion and hope. At first unsure of herself, Sugar found a way to weave her own life experiences together with the deep yearning and heartrending questions from her readers. Brilliantly adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, the Academy Award-nominated writer of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
About 70 people came to hear Claire Theaker-Brown of Flatter Me Belts, Shane Pawluk of IZM and Alison McMahon of TwoFold talk about turning great ideas into great products. The panel was held at the Edmonton Journal on March 18, 2015, and was moderated by Karen Unland.
U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill listened to ideas and concerns, and answered questions from Missourians today at a public town hall meeting in Hillsboro—kicking off the first of eight public town halls she is holding across the Show-Me state this week.
McCaskill has hosted public town hall meetings in Missouri throughout her time in the U.S. Senate.
“One of the most important parts of my job is listening to Missourians about their ideas and concerns, getting their input, and holding myself accountable face-to-face,” said McCaskill, who grew up in rural Missouri. “I wanted the folks at today’s town hall, and across the state, to know that the people they elected to represent them truly hear them, and stand ready to take their ideas to Washington on how to better tackle the opioid crisis in our state, educate our kids, ensure Missourians have access to affordable health insurance, and bring down the high cost of prescription drugs.”
McCaskill is hosting eight public town halls this week in Buchanan County, Callaway County, Greene County, Jefferson County, Marion County, New Madrid County, Phelps County, and Platte County.
Public town halls with Missourians have been a hallmark of McCaskill’s time in the Senate, including tours across the state. During debate over the Affordable Care Act—at a time of heightened demonstrations against the law—McCaskill held a series of highly publicized town halls, including in traditionally conservative areas of Missouri, to hear directly from Missourians about their concerns and respond to criticisms. In 2014, McCaskill logged more than 1,000 miles around the state on her “McCaskill on Main Street” series of public town halls.
McCaskill has also toured the state with town halls aimed at military veterans and seniors—and has hosted individual town halls, such as one she hosted last year with then-U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack focused on the opioid epidemic.

"An antique board game with a magical/wizard theme. The game was published by McLoughlin Bros., N.Y.: c. 1870. It measures 11.75 x 11.75 x 2 inches when in the case.
Inside the box is a spinner resting beneath a pane of glass. The directions are mounted underneath the glass. There are three "answer inserts" that hug the outer portion of the box, fitting around the glass. Three double-sided circular question cards are provided, each one corresponding to an answer insert.
After a question is asked, the question card is placed upon the glass pane and aligned such that the question asked is placed in the top (12 o'clock) position. The spinner is then magnetically moved, and points to the correct answer on the "answer insert."
The directions read: "In asking a question, place the Question Card so that it will fit exactly over this Disc, placing the question asked at the top, so that the dot on the edge will be directly opposite the dot on the top of this Disc, when the hand will immediately move in a quizzical manner, and in a few moments stop, and give the correct answer."

The most frequent question I've had via messaging and emails is: why didn't you upload photos in the last 7 years?
I'll tell you: the man I was living with made me feel awful if I didn't upload photos on demand. It then quickly turned into not uploading out of spite. Any images I created belonged to ME and it was MY prerogative as to whether or not I'd share my photos with ANYONE or NO ONE. He made me not want to share with anyone. Especially not him.
He stalked everywhere I shared photos, just waiting for something to show up. All I posted to Facebook was a few photos of his daughter and her family. I didn't bother with our pirate guild images, the hummingbirds that hatched right in front of me, not did I post anything he deemed "his" and therefore he could take, repost, & take credit for himself on other platforms. Yep. He really did that. Didn't care if I was aware of it either.
And that is why I haven't posted. Here's hoping he's off taking credit for someone else's images instead of mine.
When I first started the artists answer essential questions project, I wanted to experiment with pareidolia: a concept in which objects and such depict familiar images rather than their intended image to the viewer. It was a great idea and I was definitely looking forward to experiment with it. However, it was taking me awhile to identify the “natural pareidolia” I was looking for. Because of this, I made the decision to change my essential question to: Can the ambiance of plain and unattractive scenery, change with an added subject? It took me a while to come up with this question. It also took me a while to find friends that were available for a photoshoot; Unfortunately they all had filled schedules. Despite my given situation, I came up with an alternative plan.
Considering that I don’t like taking pictures of myself, I made it a challenge of mine to get out of my comfort zone and act as the subject for each of my shots. In each picture, as you can tell by the question, I tried to position myself in a background that did not have anything spectacular happening. In addition, I dressed more formally to counter the plain and unappealing background of each image. furthermore, I used props to hopefully take the distraction off of the background and onto the subject. Lastly, I used light leak overlays to make each image more playful and creative.
I believe that I could have found backgrounds that were more unappealing, but due to the time constraint I had, I chose to use my aunty’s house as a studio; her house is NOT unattractive, I just chose spots that had nothing really happening (sorry aunt Chi). Anyways, in regards to what I think of my project as a whole, I think I did a fairly good job.
