Sunrise on Pyramid Rock in the Porcupine Gorge. At 6am my wife and I headed down into the gorge. 1/3rd of the way down I realised why my pack was so light: 1 torch, 1 tripod, 2 batteries, 2 lenses..... no camera! A little more exercise than planned and off we went again.
Earlier this year I flew to the Basque Country to visit my family. Watching the flight map monitors I noticed we were flying directly over the Nile and thought "I wonder if..." and low and behold there they were, the Great Pyramids basking in the morning Sun. The blinds went up all the way, people were sleeping, I didn't care I just started snapping away whilst being completely awe struck! Meanwhile I'm still to set foot on Egypt.

Khafre's Pyramid appears larger than the adjacent Khufu Pyramid by virtue of its more elevated location, and the steeper angle of inclination of its construction – it is, in fact, smaller in both height and volume. Khafre's Pyramid retains a prominent display of casing stones at its apex. (From Wikipedia)

"Pyramid Lake is a reservoir formed by Pyramid Dam on Piru Creek in the eastern San Emigdio Mountains, near Castaic, Southern California. It is a part of the West Branch California Aqueduct, which is a part of the California State Water Project. Its water is fed by the system after being pumped up from the San Joaquin Valley and through the Tehachapi Mountains. The 386 foot tall earth and rock dam was built by the California Department of Water Resources" - wikipedia
