1964; The Trail of Fu-Manchu by Sax Rohmer. Cover artist is questionable on the backcover the publisher credits Robert Maguire, but the cover looks nothing near a real Maguire :-(
maybe a Jerry Podwil cover? compare 'Shadow of Fu Manchu'

Demonstration of Pyramid Blending. The image on the right is produced by mathematically combining Laplacian pyramids of the images on the left with a Gaussian pyramid of a black/white mask. Image manipluations were done with Python and OpenCV.
This is a redesign of an old origami pyramid of mine. I made a tutorial, in case you want to fold your own: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LgRi4VmcrM&list=PLb2EnQPKqsb...
The Transamerica Pyramid is the tallest and most recognizable skyscraper in the San Francisco skyline.
Although the building no longer houses the headquarters of the Transamerica Corporation, it is still strongly associated with the company and is depicted in the company's logo.
Designed by architect William Pereira, at a height of 260 m (853 ft), it is currently tied for 105th tallest building in the world.

I bought this pyramid a fair few years ago at York Christmas market. A yearly outing with friends enjoying the festive spirit, mulled wine, spot of shopping, and where possible ( dependent on the amount of mulled wine consumed 😉) attend the NHS Christmas Carol service at the York Minster.
Oh how we missed it this year....

The Pyramids of Güímar refer to six rectangular pyramid-shaped, terraced structures, built from lava stone without the use of mortar. They are located in the district of Chacona, part of the town of Güímar on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The structures have been dated to the 19th century and their original function explained as a byproduct of contemporary agricultural techniques. In 1990 adventurer and publisher Thor Heyerdahl became aware of the "Canarian Pyramids" by reading an article written by Francisco Padrón in the Tenerife newspaper "Diario de Avisos" detailing "real pyramids on the Canaries". As Heyerdahl had hypothesized a transatlantic link between Egypt and Central America, he became intrigued by the Güímar pyramids and relocated to Tenerife. There Heyerdahl researched possible parallels between the Canarian terrace structures and pyramid structures in Egypt and Central America in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica as ceremonial areas. Heyerdahl hypothesised that the Canarian pyramids formed a temporal and geographic stopping point on voyages between ancient Egypt and the Maya civilization, initiating a controversy in which historians, esoterics, archaeologists, astronomers, and those with a general interest in history took part.

It was so awesome to visit the pyramids with hardly any tourists there. We got hassled a lot (as is the norm for visiting the pyramids I guess) but we followed my friend's advice and just outright ignored everyone and we did just fine. Since I've never been to the pyramids before I can't say if the Egyptians were more desperate than usual to get us to buy post cards and ride camels or if it was just business as usual.
