Took this on a visit to Costco.. I just grabbed a camera on my way out and didn't pay any attention to the lens till I started to use it and found that the lens I had wasn't made for close up shots.. Oh well, you do with what you have ..:-( Happy Telegraph Tuesday, Everybody!!
The pylon mirrored the hieroglyph Akhet 'horizon', which was a depiction of two hills "between which the sun rose and set". Consequently, it played a critical role in the symbolic architecture of a building associated with the place of re-creation and rebirth. Its significance is highlighted through architectural grandeur and relief sculptures.
Pylons are rich in symbolic meaning within ancient Egyptian temple architecture, representing gateways to the divine, a connection between the temple and the heavens. Shot from the temple of Isis at Philae island, Aswan.
Somewhere in the Surrey countryside the Pylons make their mark in the most rural of spots . This is a bridleway somewhere between Downside and Stoke d'Abernon as it passes over a small tributary - off of the River Mole .
Out this morning for a 10 mile walk from Catsfield to Crowhurst and back. It was a very dull weather day, but at least it didn't rain.
Our photo group had a theme of 'pylons, wires and thing like that'. The inset is a photo I took of an electrical engineer up a telegraph pole - which I have then blended with a screengrabbed image of someone holding a lightbulb.
I liked the connection of the lightbulb being powered by the cables being repaired (although they were probably actually telephone cables - but let's not let the facts get in the way....)
This pylon is especially for my big-hearteed (and lover of hearts!) friend, Solarscot on his birthday!
Near M1 J21A this large L6 pylon with 25 cables and around 400,000 volts is also a phone mast. Sky was cloudy with a little blue, looks better in Black & White.
Do we now subconsciously accept man made objects like pylons and wind turbines intruding into the skyline
