(Pycnonotus cafer)-The Red-vented Bulbul is a member of the bulbul family of passerines. It is resident breeder across the Indian Subcontinent, including Sri Lanka extending east to Burma and parts of Tibet. The Red-vented Bulbul is easily identified by its short crest giving the head a squarish appearance. The body is dark brown with a scaly pattern while the head is darker or black. The rump is white while the vent is red. The black tail is tipped in white.

Soaking up the morning sun. These birds are always together - for years now.
Almost at the bottom of the mountain we stopped for refreshments, and spotted a small flock of these impressive bulbuls in a nearby tree.
Während ich mich im Ayurveda-Resort "Spring of Life" vor, nach und zwischen den Anwendungen erholte, konnte ich ganz bequem von der Terrasse meines Zimmers aus die vielfältige Tierwelt beobachten.

Ok.....I miss my EF 500mm which is now in Italy (was too much weight to carry, but I'll take it back maybe next week). So the 300 with extender is now my partner in this picture taken in Yas Island where there are a lot of these common bulbuls. This one seems to be more romantic than the others intended in catching insects and other stuff.
Take care

Black-eyed Bulbul or Dark-capped Bulbul or Common Bulbul
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Pycnonotidae
Pycnonotus barbatus
Pycnonotus (barbatus) tricolor
There seems to be a firmly entrenched difference of opinion with regard to splitting the Common Bulbul (Pycnonotus barbatus) into three species with the Black-eyed Bulbul being Pycnonotus (barbatus) tricolor. When divided, the barbatus species name is used in parentheses as a "middle name".
