GOAL: To recreate old 70's/80's/90's candid streetshots of a grittier and dirtier time.
I've always been fascinated by old pictures of NYC. Recently there have been Facebook groups dedicated to reposting some of these normal, everyday candids and street photos of that older, dirtier time.
Fast forward to today, and although there are a lot more pictures being taken (mostly in the form of cellphone selfies [cell-fies?]), they don't capture that same feeling of the denseness of the city and people unaware or uncaring of the photo being taken, going about their normal business.
Specifically, I want to recreate the feeling I get from seeing old pictures of partygoers, revelers, and drunk people coming home at night. All photos taken on film, naturally, to heighten this recreation of a bygone era.

Unicolor C41 5min
More successful color pushing! In-date Kodak Gold 400 (aka Ultramax, obtainable for a wallet-friendly $3.50 a roll) pushed to ISO 1600, and developed in standard C41 for 5 minutes. This is actually 30 seconds LESS than I developed my last couple of color pushes, mostly because I forgot to check my notes, but it was completely sufficient. In fact, I even dialed back the highlights in this one a bit.
For all of you "can't use film in low light conditions" naysayers, here's the world's cheapest current-production color film delivering GREAT results at 1600. Pair that with a 1.8 lens and you can shoot almost anything. And definitely better than digital, at any rate...
