This is a prime example of why homeless people should not drink and push.

I'm heading back to our more local zoo today. Here's Stax, a young common eland who lives there. He's learning to interact with objects in his environment, the way his parents do.

I'm pleased to see that Code, the father of Stax and one other calf, has assumed a big role in nurturing his children.

Wintry conditions at an airport

Winter along the California coast can be full of drama. It is one of my favorite seasons to photograph this area. High winds, heavy weather, and big surge all mingle together and play out some beautiful music.

I always layer up for cold and wet weather when I go. I also bring plenty of lens wipes :o)

An E402 Electric pushes it's Intercity Train through Manarola Station on the Cinque Terre. The back of Manarola is on the cliffs in the distance and the station is reached, like a lot of stations on the Cinque Terre by either a tunnel (as here) or a cliff top path.

Oulton Raiders v Thornhill Trojans - 10th March 2018 - Final Score 11 - 10

Highlight of the weekend for me was the use of 72 Fenchurch between the LNWR Observation Saloon 1503 and the GNR Directors Saloon 43909 in 'Push and Pull' mode.

Inspired by fellow photog friends to shoot the last of my PX70 PUSH film.

I cut the chemical pods off the back of the film when I was happy with development. Images haven't color shifted in almost two days. :)

I was paired with the fantastic Patti Hayes. Her assignment was for me was "to do an architectural image that is EdGy in an artsy way, however you may interpret that - by angle, post-processing, style of subject, etc . It may be of an entire building or of just a detail that is discernible as architecture in the frame. Try to make it unique and as 'out of the box' for you as possible."

This was a fun assignment. I was interesting to look at things I don't usually look at - buildings and their lines - not flowers or food. I also had fun trying to process this. I don't usually do a whole lot of processing, mostly because I don't know how. It was great to be "pushed" into something I was avoiding.

I've got a quirky preoccupation with graveside floral arrangements. Just another mental deviation I've come to accept. I think the underlying basis has to do with the dichotomy of bright colors, full of life and happiness played out against the tableau of grim death. Photographically this often strays into the realm of how things make me feel versus how they actually appear.

Found myself mesmerized by the funeral procession for Queen Elizabeth. Watching the royal hearse traverse mile after mile through towns and villages with people lining the way. Oddly joyous to observe, but all the while mindful that it was a one-way journey that would end in a crypt. The same sentiment as this simple floral arrangement, except played out on an immense scale. I'm not sure the world will ever see such a spectacle again.
