In an effort to keep the old cars together across the rolling profile of the old Soo, WC placed power (and an engineer) on both ends for the trip to Escanaba. A boxy F45 pushes past the old crossing of the Nicollet Badger & Northern, once a C&NW route that continued north to Iron River, MI. February 5, 2000.
Life from the business end of the Paletta man's Cart. He parked and stepped inside the bakery I was just walking out of. This was the first time I wasn't standing on the customer end of things. I thought of all the people who would rather swindle, collect unemployment, live off someone else or who have no appreciation for what hard work is. If this guy doesn't push on, there's no telling what his fate and those around him will be. Try walking in the Paletta Man's shoes today.

A nice image of the railroad landscape, an often smoky place. Beautifully composed with perfect lighting and contrasting elements, the smoke from heavily working diesels is a contrast in a city long known for industrial smoke. A skillful cropping of a familiar scene that focuses the viewer on the theme beautifully.
Taken for ODC theme pushing. I am pushing for Spring. I just love gardening and can't wait for Spring, in the meantime I brought this little daisy outside yesterday for a photo op.

I've got a quirky preoccupation with graveside floral arrangements. Just another mental deviation I've come to accept. I think the underlying basis has to do with the dichotomy of bright colors, full of life and happiness played out against the tableau of grim death. Photographically this often strays into the realm of how things make me feel versus how they actually appear.
Found myself mesmerized by the funeral procession for Queen Elizabeth. Watching the royal hearse traverse mile after mile through towns and villages with people lining the way. Oddly joyous to observe, but all the while mindful that it was a one-way journey that would end in a crypt. The same sentiment as this simple floral arrangement, except played out on an immense scale. I'm not sure the world will ever see such a spectacle again.

A porter brings luggage through the old town in Monemvasia, Greece. Since no cars can enter, this is the only way for transportation (been away on holiday for a few weeks with limited access to the web so am behind on posting, commenting and faving..)
In June 2020, on what must have been a very hot day, I took this high-key shot of the most mundane and boring subject I could find, and set about going crazy in post-production by tweaking and pushing all those software cursors I had never used before.
This is the result, and I can’t say I’m overly proud of it —this is just to show how far heat-induced madness can take you. Beware...! ;o))

Amtrak ACS-64 #623 pushes a westbound Keystone Corridor train past the fire department in Ronks, PA, February 21, 2015. The impending snow storm had just begun and would create havoc for the long, slow drive home for my friends and I.
